The best-known gun targets in Westwego are the “Pitbull” and “Bulldog” figures, which are located on the north side of town near the intersection of US 90 and FM 748. These Figures commemorate local battles that took place in this area during the 1800s. In 1884, a new rifle range was opened in Westwego by J.B. Higgins and Company. This range featured three pits where customers could shoot various types of rifles including shotguns and pistols. The company also built a machine shop within the facility to help with manufacturing these firearms. In 1911, another rifle range was opened by Wm Haggerty and Sons at 209 E Napoleon Ave. This range featured two pits where customers could shoot handguns as well as rifles. In 1923, another rifle range was opened by JH Pickering & Sons at 214 S Napoleon Ave., which featured four pits with different shooting distances between them; one for handguns, one for rifles, one for shotguns (this pit also served as an exhibition ground), and one for cannons! In 1945, a new pistolrange was opened by G&W Rifle Range at 418 Covington Ave., which included a trap course suitable for children as well as adults! This range is still open today! One of the most notable incidents that took place at thisgun target location was during World War II when more than seventy people were killed while playing here!

Westwego is a Louisiana town located in the southwestern corner of the state. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Shreveport-Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now comprising WestweGO was first populated by Native Americans, and early French colonists also lived in what is today Westwego. The area mined saltpeter and other minerals during the 19th century, but it wasn't until after World War II that this sector of the economy began to grow significantly. Today, Westwego's primary industry is its status as a bedroom community for Baton Rouge and Shreveport-Bossier City. However, over time many businesses have opened up in recent years in areas such as IT services and real estate development. In addition to its position as a bedroom community for Baton Rouge and Shreveport-Bossier City, Westwego has become known for its arts scene - home to several theaters and art galleries as well as a number of fine restaurants including Jardin de la Cité (a Michelin starred restaurant). As an agricultural center dating back to pre-historic times,WestweGO continues to be an important player in Louisiana agriculture despite advances made by modern technology. A variety of crops are grown here including corn, soybeans, cotton, hay/seed production, potatoes etc., while cattle are raised on some properties. Dairy products are also produced on a large scale thanks to access to local milk supplies and nearby dairy farms

However, after Katrina struck Gulf coast areas in 2005 and2006, Westwego's economy collapsed and it has not recovered since then. Since 2006, there have been efforts to bring back some aspects of the city's past including redevelopment of downtown; restoration of historic buildings; and promotion of cultural events such as jazz festivals or street fairs which are meant to bring life back into downtown streetscape
Westwego was a small town located in southwestern Louisiana. It was founded in 1814 by the French colonists of Louisiana and named for Jean Baptiste Westphal, an early settler. The original population of Westwego consisted of about 100 people. By 1830, the population had grown to about 220 people and by 1834 it had reached its peak at around 350 people. However, the growth stopped after a fire destroyed most of the town in 1835.
