It has four legs that can be rotated to adjust the height at which it can be mounted, as well as a platform on top that allows you to place your rifle so that it points straight down at target arrays!. The first expansion of the mount for a rifle in West Monroe, Louisiana was in 1892 when the town's Board of Education purchased a 1 acre lot at 409 S. Broad Street and erected a rifle range. The original rifle range was used by the militia during the American Civil War and is now known as "Old Hickory Park". In 1902, the town acquired an additional 2 acres at 421 N. Broad Street, which became known as "New Hickory Park". In 1916, West Monroe built its own armories and Rifle Range No. 2 was opened to serve that purpose. In 1929, West Monroe also constructed its first gas station/gun store at 423 North Main Street which served as both gun store and liquor store until it closed in 1958.
West Monroe, Louisiana is a town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 9,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now West Monroe were French traders and travelers who passed through the area in 1765-67. A post office was established on October 15, 1824 by order of President James K. Polk as part of a program to promote postal service between the U.S. and its overseas possessions. In 1830-32, Wm J. Henson made an unsuccessful attempt to establish a store hereabouts at what is now known as "Henson's Landing". The land being offered for sale became available about two miles (3 km) northwest of present day town limits when trustees from nearby Stroudsburg built a sawmill on the Sabine River which supplied lumber for building ships in New Orleans Harbor during the early 19th century; this mill still stands today within walking distance of downtown West Monroe several blocks east of Veterans Memorial Hospital and just south of I-10 exit 190A (McLaughlin Road). A post office operated under that name until November 1, 1879 when it was renamed "Monroe". On January 1, 1889 Charles Brouillet accepted an appointment from President Grover Cleveland as Postmaster General and began serving under that title until his death on December 12, 1893; he had been appointed by Franklin D.
