Thibodaux is a small town located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 8,613 at the 2010 census. The town is named after General Jean-Baptiste de la Bataille, who fought in the American Revolution and Battle of Bunker Hill. Thibodaux is part of the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. Thibodaux was founded by Pierre Laclède in 1792. It became a town on May 7, 1814 when it incorporated as a county seat under Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1846, Thibodaux seceded from Orleans Parish and became an independent parish under the name of Thibodaux County. On January 1, 1898, the parish changed its name to Jefferson Parish and regained its status as an independent parish under that name until 1959 when it became part of New Orleans metropolitan area. The first post office was established at Thibodaux on December 20, 1814 by Coligny Villere with Aconitum as the stamp issue. The present post office building was erected in 1912 and contains three floors of mail storage and four floors of offices used for postal purposes including Ralph Ladd's grocery store which anchored what has been called "the original commercial center" of Thibodaux village before developments began around the shopping center adjacent to Highway 9 and I-10 Wacker Drive (now known as Veterans Boulevard). In addition to general merchandizing local produce such as fruits and vegetables grown on family farms dotting much of northern Lafourche Parish; meatpacking plants packing game such as deer or hog snouts intoCD cases exported all over North America; banking concerns included two banks: First National Bank built at corner US 90/Highway 59 near where Interstate 10 Ends (now Veterans Boulevard) in 1925 followed by Citizens State Bank opened at same site in 1928; both were destroyed during Hurricane Betsy but replaced within days with new brick buildings - still standing today - both having multiple levels of Mail Storage above their basement levels for future needs should another major storm ever strike Thibodaux Village! Today many businesses have moved out into other areas outside Of Town limits due to high land values not being worth redeveloping inside Of Town Limits anymore

Thibodaux, Louisiana is a small town located in northwestern Louisiana. The population was 10,730 at the 2000 census. It is the seat of Thibodaux Parish and a part of the New Orleans–Metairie metropolitan area. Thibodaux is also home to the University of Southwestern Louisiana. The first time Thibodaux was mentioned in records date back to 1698 when it was called "Tiburon". In 1837, when Thibodaux was incorporated as a village it had a population of just over 100 people. However, by 1850, with the opening of the Mississippi River floodplain (and accompanying railroad construction), Thibodaux had become one of the most important settlements on that stretch of river. In 1892, after years of debate between hardware store owner John Ahern and congressman Cotton Mathers over whether or not to annex what would then be known as Lafourche Parish into south Lafourche County (the vote being postponed because Ahern could not produce evidence that his store would be affected by annexation), President Grover Cleveland issued an Executive Order creating Lafourche Parish from north-central Jefferson Parish so that nearby towns like Lafayette andNormal could have some say in their own affairs. On November 3rd 1890, the villagers took to the streets to celebrate when they learned about their new parishioners - with everything from shotguns to pistols being passed out among them! When military forces invaded Haiti during World War II, many American soldiers were stationed in and around Thibodaux for various reasons; one such soldier happened to be local hero Colonel James Forrestal who helped lead Operation Neptune's Spear - which resulted in more than 5,000 Haitian civilians dying as a result of Allied air attacks on Port-au-Prince. After The War ended many American soldiers left town but others continued working at Forrestal's Hardware until 1949 when it closed its doors forever due primarily to lack of customers along with other retailers following suit throughout southwestern Louisiana during this period known as "The Great Depression." As development started picking up again in downtown Thibodaux during the late 1950s & early 1960s much attention turned towards improving transportation options within & outside town limits leading eventually (& finally)to what we now know as Interstate 10 heading eastward across Iberia Parish... thus uniting all those souls who were once gathered around Forrestal's Hardware only yards away from Mobile Street & Main Street together since 1862! In 1984 violence broke out after several teenage boys were caught stealing items from local businesses including Anheuser Busch Brewery near City Park Drive & State Road 64A which led to four people getting arrested on charges ranging from simple theft ($4) all the way up to aggravated robbery (1st degree felony) against three individuals resulting in $100 fines each plus jail time for 2nd Degree Felony status! This event quickly became known as "The Day That Would Be remembered" due both because it involved young men who had been caught doing something bad for fun rather than anything else & also because business owners felt they neededlessly put themselves through aggravation just so someone might get hurt... Consequently there has been little if any retaliation by either side ever since!
