Slidell is a town in Slidell Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,823 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Bogalusa Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first optical equipment store in Slidell opened in 1892 and was run by Mr. and Mrs. John Gentry. In 1915, Drury Brothers established a department store there which became known as "The House of Optical Merchandising." In 1924, the company merged with Price Company to form Price/Gentry Corporation. The name changed again to Price/Gentry/Eaton Corporation in 1951 before becoming Price/Gentryrite Corporation in 1972. The company was sold to Tandy Group plc. on January 1, 1987 and ceased operations on July 15 of that year; it had been part of the Tandy Electronics division since its inception fifty years earlier On December 6, 1941, Japanese air raid bombers bombed Pearl Harbor ( Honolulu ). On December 7th President Franklin D Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which ordered American military forces to prepare for an all-out war against Japan . This order called for the confiscation of all types of civilian optical equipment including telescopes and binoculars . This led to the closure of many optical businesses throughout America . One such business closed its doors forever is Price/Gentryrite Corporation when it was sold to Tandy Group plc In 1957-1958Price replaced Bakelite lenses with nylon lens because Bakelite lenses were corroding due to salt water contact In 1978-1979Price introduced electronic components into optics products line Also during this time they began making acrylic glass lenses within their plastic packaging which then became standard after other companies copied their design

Slidell is a small town in Louisiana located on the southern bank of the Mississippi River. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Slidell Parish and is part of the New Orleans–Metairie, LA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that would become Slidell were first settled by French colonists in 1716 as Iberville Parish. In 1810, Slidell was established as a Plantation on what is now known as Oldslide Road by General John C. Breaux after he won control of St. Bernard Parish from Nicolas Broussard. By 1812, Slidell had a sawmill and gristmill which produced manufactures such as cotton thread, rope, shoes and wagon parts until it closed in 1881. A post office was established at Sliprell in 1846, but discontinued operations in 1865 due to lack of interest from residents. In 1901, JG Morgan bought land east of present-day Slidell from Nicholas Broussard for $2 million dollars making it one of the largest land acquisitions ever made in Louisiana history at that time. Morgan began construction on his new plantation called "Morgan's Grove" which included more than 20 miles (32 km) of rifle range and 10 miles (16 km) of horseback trails within its sprawling acres including what is now known as Morgan's Lake Preserve Wildlife Management Area A year later he donated 5 acres (20 m²) to be used as a park with views over downtown New Orleans called Morgan Park and today this area forms much of the eastern edge of Slippery Elm Park near Interstate 10 Exit 149B which also includes much valuable housing developments adjacent to reopened former slave pens dating back to 1888 when African American slaves were brought here under conditions designed to make them work hard for their white owners while providing no humane treatment or benefits to them other than daily exposure to tobacco smoke - an environmental disaster similar in scale and results to many current inner city neighborhoods across America where large numbers of black Americans have been deliberately trapped since before Katrina hit landfall on August 29th 2005
