Ruston, Louisiana is a small town in the parish of Alexandria, in east-central Louisiana. The population was 1,691 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. Since then, much has been done to rebuilt Ruston – including erecting new roads and bridges; creating new parks and playgrounds; developing new businesses; and implementing numerous initiatives designed to promote economic development within the community. It has beenshown several times since being renovated and now serves as a museum with exhibits about local history and life during prohibition days in America. 2nd Baptist Church - This church also served as the home of Ruston's first mayor from 1912 until 1964 when it burned down. After restoration it reopened as an historical museum in 1978 before moving into its current location next door in 2009 where it currently resides.. Olivette Theater -built 1923 this theater saw many famous films such as "The Great Gatsby" and " Citizen Kane". In 2007 it underwent restoration which included new windows, flooring, walls and curtains throughout by noted restorer Lee Iacocca himself- making this one of only a few restored theaters still standing today
