Ruston has also been home to several casinos over the years including two operated by Native American tribes: Red Dog Casino and Cherokee Casino Resort. One of ruston's most significant landmarks is its 20-meter tall statue of General John Custer commemorating his 1865 Battle of Little Bighorn campaign which took place nearby on July 8th,.
