The first European to arrive in what is now Pineville was a Frenchman named Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne who landed on Louisiana Bay on December 8, 1765. He and his group of men were looking for new land to explore when they came across a group of Indians called the Kanawha. The Kanawha were friendly and welcomed the frenchmen while warning them not to harm their people. Later that year, another Frenchman named Pierre Lacroix arrived onshore and began exploring the area around present day Pineville. He found some natural resources here so he started trading goods with the Indians and buying land from them. Lacroix's discovery helped support French settlers in this area for years to come. In 1807, General David Dixon sent an expedition upriver towards what is now Monroe County to find a route to Mexico City through Texas. One of the members of this expedition was Captain John Smith who met Lacroix along the way. Smith took advantage of Lacroix's offer for passage back home instead of going all the way downriver like other explorers had done before him. This event helped begin France's relationship with America which would last until well into World War II
Pineville is a small town in the parish of Covington, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,857 at the 2010 census. Pineville is located on the banks of the Arkansas River. It is part of the Shreveport–Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Pineville were French Creole people who came from New Orleans in 1804. They named their settlement "Rochefort" after an early French colonists' village in present-day Rochefort du Lac, Wisconsin. In 1830, a group of Yankees settle near what is now Pineville and began to name their town after trees that grew thereabouts: "Willow". The first post office opened in 1863 and was called "New Willow". In 1872, James Aigner built a sawmill on the riverbank just east of today's Creek Park Elementary School campus. He also started a grocery store and other businesses around this time. By 1906, pineapples had become one of the main crops grown in Jackson Parish and local mills used them to make ice cream for sale to visitors coming downriver from New Orleans; as a result, this area became known as "Pineapple Hill." In 1933, two businessmen - Caryl Pinchot and her husband Neil Pinchot - founded an agricultural fertilizer company here which became one of the largest producers of fertilizer throughout the Southeast region during World War II. After Pinchot's death in 1961 his son Barry took over management until his retirement in 1998; during that time nursery operations expanded into adjacent fields along with new production areas for fruits/veggies (pomegranates/grapefruit) and processed foods (sliced cheese). In 2014-15 Barry's daughter Kelly ran things until her father's passing four years later – making it Kelly family run operation for 49 years! Today Barry's granddaughter Renee continues operations with help from her mother Nellie Mae Cyrus when needed (although most days hands off). Southeast Louisiana has long been known for its large pines; those found near where Pineville stands are especially prized because they can easily be turned into pulpwood or furniture timbers using traditional means such as forced exposure to high heat or fire techniques followed by trimming off all visible limbs before stacking them together like logs. Timber production peaked during World War II with an estimated 100 million board feet produced each year including many military barracks converted into wood frame homes across southeastern Louisiana due to shortages caused by WWII munitions restrictions

Pineville is located in the Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, and has a Census-estimated population of 5,873 in 2000. The community was founded by French colonists in 1824. It became a U.S. town on January 12, 1868, when it was named for General James Longstreet, commander of Union forces during the American Civil War. Pineville's history dates back to 1824 when French colonists settled here after migrating from what is now northwestern France. The first white owner of land in Pineville was Captain John Gresham who bought 640 acres (2 km²) northwest of present day Pineville on November 21, 1824 from Pierre Chouteau for $1 per acre (0.50 ha). In 1830 Captain Gresham sold his holdings to Daniel Boone for $5 per acre (0.20 ha). A post office called "Pineville" was established at this location on December 3, 1830; it remained in operation until it was discontinued on May 1, 1853. The first organized church in Pineville were Methodist Episcopal missionaries who arrived in 1830 and built a small cabin nearpresent day Park Road. They left about three years later because Revd Samuel Richardson felt that Methodism would not work well among the people living around Thibodaux off the state line where he had been preaching since 1796 Some time before their departure they constructed a small frame log building which still stands today as the Presbyterian Church Depot Building and is used as local government offices today . Reverend Richardson also planted some trees within sight of the present day Post Office which are still bearing fruit today A store opened up soon afterwards with proprietor Purdy selling groceries and other items direct to consumers doorsteps while garages housed horses and wagons used to bring goods into town . By 1840 there were five stores clustered together with two hotels/motels , one grocery store/grocery wagon stop open every Monday morning between 7am-10am serving breakfast until 2pm then closed for lunch noon-3pm then reopened at 4pm serving dinner until 8pm thenclosed again for lunch until 10pm daily except Sundays when it served breakfast from 6am - 10am continued through lunch service and dinner service stopped at 2pm after serving lunches until 9 pm
