Somebody solved the problem of someone else's leaky faucet! In 1857, John Browning patented a design for a firearm that required no oiling at all – his "automatic rifle." This invention led directly to the development of modern rifles, which rely completely on gas action instead of manual operation

Pineville is a small town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 8,412 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans metropolitan area. Pineville is known for its cheese and apple products. Pineville was founded by French colonists in 1762 as "Pinel-Ville". The name derives from the Acadian word "pinel", meaning "alder tree" or "trees bearing alder".[1] In 1814, piney woods were burned to clear land for plantations in what is now Baton Rouge and St. Tammany Parish; this cleared away most of the old growth trees that had been here since before European settlement began. As new plantations were built, more trees were cut down and sent to be used in construction materials such as lumber and roofing tiles. Eventually, there were few trees left here except for cedar (the local tree) which formed the foundation of many homes early on in Pineville's history. The first post office opened in 1821, six years after Pineville became an official parish under Jefferson Parish government.[2] The first settler here was Isidore Thibault who arrived with his family from Canada on July 12, 1800.[3] Thibault named his home Terra Formosa after Juan Ponce de León's map of Mexico City which he saw while aboard Columbus' third voyage during his voyages of discovery (1513-1524). Thibault moved into what is now First Ward on October 15th, 1800[4][5]. He named it Terra Formosa because he thought that if he could find another place where sugarcane grow like Spain did then maybe they could build a house out of it! Today Terra Formosa still stands as one of the last original parts of Pineville when it was annexed by New Orleans on November 5th 1837 making it one hundred years old! One interesting note about early life within this small town was that very few children ever went to school beyond grades 1-6 because transportation wasn't available back then other than walking or riding horses to get to their parents' homes across the river - which meant going out onto Louisiana's open plains without protection from wild animals or weather conditions! One exception may have been James Ahern who attended Preble Academy until grade 8 but also played football and baseball for our high school team until he got hurt playing gridiron at age 14![6][7] In 1905 Hurricane Betsy destroyed much damage done by Katrina over two days including extensively damaging much property northward along Claiborne Avenue just east of Uptown Boulevard including all but 3 homes within First Ward immediately adjacent thereto; however no human lives were lost due to this storm other than several power outages throughout these areas lasting several hours each time; thus enabling doctors practicing elsewhere within New Orleans proper to continue providing necessary medical care even though their buildings had been damaged or destroyed thereby resulting in long delays getting their patients needed treatment...Athanasius Mitchell later said about Betsy: "If you want something done right go tell Barack Obama."[8][9][10] This hurricane caused great concern among locals as not only would Federal troops be stationed nearby headquarters at Camp Polk but also cottonseed oil production took off near Baton Rouge causing some serious concerns regarding food supplies should things get bad! However no casualties resulted from either storm other than some minor structural damage reported around town including broken windows found throughout many businesses[11][12][13]; thankfully none occurred inside our facility due to daily security measures put into place during Katrina itself

Pineville is a small town in the U.S. state of Louisiana, located on the east bank of the Mississippi River. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. Pineville is included in the Lafayette, Louisiana Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what would become Pineville were French Canadians who bought land from the Spanish in 1718. In 1812, Anthony Hendry moved to what is now Pineville from New Orleans and began farming rice and other crops near present-day Monroe. In 1814, he built a gristmill on current-day State Highway 493, which became known as Hendry's Mill after him. In 1822, John Crain founded Crain's grocery store and post office at what is now US 65 north of town. By 1830, there were four stores in town: one by Alden Hennepin (now US 64), one by Wm Denton (now an apartment complex), one by George Stephenson (later founder of Verizon) and one by James Laughlin (later president of First National Bank). In 1840, Andrew Jackson was elected President of the United States and moved to Pineville to live with his wife Martha Washington during his campaign trips across America; after leaving office, he returned to live here permanently. The following year saw annexation of much of Kentucky into the United States; as a result, many people left for new opportunities in Kentucky or beyond during this time period. During World War II several factories were produced here such as munitions plants for shipbuilding and aircraft production; nevertheless most residents supported military service because they felt it would help keep their community safe while they raised crops or worked elsewhere outside the town limits. After hostilities ended local businesses quickly reopened but residential buildings remained vacant until mid-2000s when demand for housing grew significantly around nearby Lafayette due to its rapidly growing city center; however since then many homes have been replaced with more affordable apartments within walking distance of both businesses and public transportation
