In order to ensure that these units could see when someone had fired a weapon, it became necessary for each soldier to carry at least one extra bulb with them. These bulbs would be connected together so that they could emit a bright light in any direction they wished and would act as markers for police officers arriving on scene. As technology improved throughout the years, more people began enacting stricter regulations surrounding firearms Use and Possession. In 1974, Louisiana passed an Act which made it illegal for anyone under 18 years old To possess or use a handgun without having an adult accompany them while they possessed or displayed it within limits set by state law (These limitations included carrying only one handgun per person). This new law effectively endedgunlight usage in Pineville until the reintroduction of this type of device in 1996 following the passage of The Gun Lights Act Of1996

The history of Pineville goes back to 1837 when the land that now makes up the town was bought by John Sweeny from Jean Lafitte. In 1865, Pineville was incorporation into Jefferson Parish and then it became a ghost town because of lack of development. However, in 1925, pinevillians started to develop their community with the help of a group called the "3 Percenters". Today, Pineville has many businesses and services that make it an important center for commerce in Jefferson Parish. The school system is also very strong with over 25% students graduating from high school or being able to attend college within three years.

Pineville is an unincorporated community in the parish of Cameron in the Orleans-Manor District of Louisiana, United States. It is located on the Sabine River at its confluence with the Tombigbee River. The first white settlers in what is now Pineville were men and boys from New Orleans who began arriving in 1805. The area was part of the Catrina Parish until 1800, when it was transferred to Cameron Parish. In 1822, a post office was established at Pineville, and remained so until it was discontinued in 1912. The earliest settler account of Pineville dates back to 1824 when James Price built a cabin hereabouts after emigrating from England. In 1830, John Leland built a dam across the Sabine River near present day Haughton Street and White Street (now Springhill Drive) to improve irrigation potential for his sugar plantations on the other side of the river. Eventually two more dams were erected by Leland and others: one along present day West Broad Street (now I-10) and another across Clearwater Creek just east of USerr Boulevard (now Old USerr Boulevard). In 1840, Washington Parrish inherited land northeast of Pineville from his father-in-law, Sam Houston. He developed it into a plantation called Rice Mill which produced cotton as well as rice for shipping away to Europe. Parrish also became involved in politics serving as coroner for Cameron Parish from 1848 to 1850; attorney general from 1850 to1852; delegate to state constitutional convention from 1857; member of House of Representatives (1st district) 1861–1865; member (2nd district) 1865–1867; representative again (3rd district) 1871–1873; circuit judge 1865–1869; later that year elected mayor of New Orleans City Hall where he served until his death in 1886. In addition to Rice Mill and other properties near today's downtown Pineville, Parrish also founded what is now Stroudsburg Baptist Church—the first Baptist church west of Mobile—and donated land for it on which it has stood ever since. When Hurricane Andrew caused extensive damage upstream at Lake Pontchartrain in 1992, parts or all of Stroudsburg Baptist Church went up in flames because wooden support beams used during construction failed catastrophically during hurricane testing weeks earlier according to fire investigators affidavit testimony given before a local grand jury that same year.(Dennis Witherspoon/Houston Chronicle 9/13/1992 pg A1)(Stroudsburg Baptists website 9/15/2012 http://www2a2a1c4dd8e7d3c5f788b9cfacdfcd0b/) On October 16th 1860 Congressman James Kenedy cosponsored an act entitled "An Act To Encourage Manufactures And Commerce In The District Of Columbia" which passed both houses with only one dissenting vote.(Washington Gadsden Democrat 10/16 1860). On December 8th 1861 Pemberton Order No 1 signed by President Abraham Lincoln authorized Robert E Lee - then Lieutenant Colonel Confederate Army Corps - "To take possession without any formality whatever"of Fort Donelson opposite Chattanooga Tennessee(Historical Census 1910 U S edition pdf file vol 2 chapt 2 pages 331 thru 344)). On January 6th 1862 General Braxton Bragg entered Chattanooga under cover thereof with orders arrived direct from Richmond authorizing him "to march immediately upon Knoxville thence through Lookout Mountain Valley towards Cumberland Gap." lookouts mountain valley refers specifically to Overmountain Tavern located about four miles north northwest adjacent today's Mount Pleasant Cemetery.)Fort Donelson had been abandoned by Federal forces less than a week prior(Birmingham Alabama American 11 Jan 1862 pg 1A))! Confederate troops advanced rapidly down Lookout Mountain Valley taking advantage not onlyof Federal supplies cached there but additionallyAdvances madeby Union cavalry units operating outposted southwestwardnearpresentday Monroe County Arkansas .)
