It covers an area of 57 square miles (141 square kilometers). The town of Pineville was founded in 1814 by John Jameson and others as a trading post on what is now Old Umpqua Road. For many years it served as the seat of government for surrounding districts such as Jefferson and St. Tammany Parishes until 1836 when New Orleans became its permanent home. In that year Pineville was incorporated as a town under French jurisdiction and remains so today with a francophone majority. Pineville experienced significant growth during World War II due to its proximity to military bases across central Louisiana including Tetuan Air Force Base and Hindenburg Field both located less than two miles from downtown Pineville. The town also saw increased manufacturing activity due to its location within easy access of major transportation hubs including I-10, I-565, Highway 10A/US 90W, US 61W/SR 191E

In 1907, the town name was changed to Monroe to honor President James Monroe. The city of Monroe became home to many businesses and residents in the late 1800s. These businesses included banks, insurance companies, theater theaters, and even a factory that made cigarettes. Many people from Pineville also began moving to Monroe during this time because it offered more opportunities for success than their hometown. However, by 1928, most of the businesses had been closed down or relocated elsewhere in Louisiana due to economic stress caused by World War II. As long as there have been humans living in Louisiana (and likely since before), there has been evidence of trees growing around here somewhere! A local legend claims that when General Andrew Jackson happened upon surveys showing potential land for his plantation north of Lake Pontchartrain back in 1785 he ordered everyone who could carry any logs off his property onto their boats and then sailed away! The logs would eventually be turned into what is now Pineville Parish! This story likely comes from one of Jackson's workers who told him about it while working on his plantation some years later). It seems pretty unlikely that someone would actually turn all those logs into acres of land today but it's still fun trivia nonetheless!
Pineville is located in Louisiana, United States. The town was founded by French colonists in 1763 and named for the pine forest that surrounded it. The first settlers were Protestant refugees from the British Isles who arrived in1765. They built a small log cabin and started trading with the Indians. In 1819, a post office was established in Pineville, and the town began to grow. By 1840, it had a population of around 350 people. In 1865, the US government conducted an official survey of Louisiana which found that Pineville should be made a part of New Orleans because its natural resources would make it an important strategic center. A year later, Pineville became a city and quickly became one of the most popular vacation destinations in Louisiana.
