Pineville is a city in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 24,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Bogalusa metropolitan area. The first white settler in Pineville was Nicholas Coleridge who arrived in 1795 and named it after his home town of Llandaff on the River Wye in Wales. A post office called Pineville was established in 1836, and by 1860 it had a population of 100. In 1870, a sawmill and gristmill were built in what is now the downtown area of Pineville; these mills provided most of the city's economic activity until 1927 when an oil well went dry and caused a regional economic recession that devastated the city. In 1928, Mayor John Epps ordered construction began on City Hall which became operational following its dedication on October 1 that year. In 1945, President Harry S Truman dedicated another municipal building - Veterans Administration Hospital - located near JFK Airport to serve Pineville's military veterans through Memorial Day weekend. The hospital has since been renamed Saint Clare’s Medical Center after the Blessed Virgin Mary (the patron saint of healthcare). In 1960, Pineville became one of four communities within Jefferson Parish to join together for their own public school district; this action allowed for more efficient allocation of resources among all constituent schools within voter-approved boundaries. As part of this reorganization process, all public high schools within Pineville were consolidated into one new high school named Jefferson High School South during 2006-07 academic year pursuant to community demands for elimination or consolidation of various types oflockout policies at individual schools across parishwide levels as mandated by state Legislature under then- Governor Kathleen Blanco mandating "a single system with better Accountability."
Pineville is a small town in the parish of Orleans in Louisiana. The population was 2,633 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Mississippi River and had a total area of 12 square miles (30 km²). Pineville is known for its pines, and streets named afterpine trees are common. The first settlers in what would become Pineville were Frenchmen who arrived in 1763. They built a log cabin on the current site of town, which they called "Haut de la Pointe." In 1824, General Andrew Jackson's army passed through this area while on their way to invade Mississippi; as a result, some soldiers stopped at Haut de la Pointe and took water from the nearby creek for their horses. As word spread about this event, people started arriving to live in Pineville. By 1830, there were more than 100 households in town. In 1836, Tennessee Senator John Crain offered land to pine lumberjacks near Pineville for $5 per acre ($ today). This offer created an industry that has continued to grow ever since - pine lumbering has made Pineville one of the most economically significant towns in Louisiana and around the world. Today, many businesses operate out of downtown Pineville – such as Chevrolet Impala Service Centers and Lowes Discount stores – making it easy to get your shopping done without leaving your comfortable home or neighborhood!

Pineville was founded in 1819 by Pierre Lacoste and his brother, Jean-Baptiste Lacoste. The town was named forpine tree found near the site of its founding. The first post office in Pineville was established in 1824. In 1830, the Louisiana Railroad reached Pineville and the town became an important center for transportation. In 1865, Union General Ulysses S. Grant passed through Pineville on his way toa battle at Gettysburg. A plaque located in downtown greeting visitors to the town reads: "Grant Visitations - 1865." In 1870, a fire destroyed most of the buildings in downtown Pineville and it took several years for reconstruction to begin. By 1880, the population of pineville had grown to over 1,500 people. During World War I, pineVILLE served as a military base supplying munitions to various units across Louisiana and Mississippi. After the war ended, many residents moved away from pineVILLE while others continued to live there until they left during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Today, pineVILLE is a small community with a few hundred residents that is home to many businesses and restaurants including two commercial airports which serve as landing strips for air travel into and out of New Orleans and Baton Rouge respectively
