In recent years more religious organizations have moved into Pineville including Assemblies of Godchurch planted in 2006 by Pastor Rick Warren who also serves as Mayor of nearby Union City As a result of strong growth over time some roads have been widened or new bridges have been built across rivers like Cypress Creek which runs through downtown Pineville forming part of Louisiana State Routes 12 & 190A which connect Baton Rouge with Jefferson County via Monroe County Many local businesses also offer online ordering service allowing customers from anywhere within America without having to leave their home country The city contains two shopping malls - I-10 Mall statewide chain Sears Holdings Inc., anchor store since 1984; Cumberland Mall anchored by JCPenney Company - opened on November 2nd 2005; both mall anchors were closed on October 25th 2017 due to poor sales performance

Pineville was founded in 1837 by John and Susannah White. The town was named after the Pine tree that grew near the white family’s home. The Whites were first settlers in what is now Louisiana. In 1839, they bought land from the French and moved to Pineville. John White served as a judge for Osage Parish for many years before his death in 1868. His wife, Susannah, continued to serve on the bench until her death in 1886. They are buried at Calvary Cemetery in Pineville. In 1860, there were only about seventy people living in Pineville when it became a parish seat of Osage Parish. By 1870, however, the population had grown to over two hundred people and by 1880 it numbered four thousand residents. The growth of pine trees in the area caused much traffic congestion on Highway 55; thus, construction of a new bridge across Lake Ponchartrain was necessary in order to relieve some of this congestion! The new bridge was completed in 1936 and is still used today! The post office at Pineville began operating on November 5, 1840, under the name “Belleville”. It changed its name to “Pineville” on December 1st of that year! On March 15th of 1881, a fire destroyed most of the downtown business district including most of the pine trees which also occurred during an early season storm damage several weeks earlier! However, all seemed lost as no one could find anything helpful or temporary damage had been done beyond rebuildings ever since then !! After World War II ended with Hiroshima/ Nagasaki (1945), local citizens decided that there would be little reason for them to stay back after Japan’s surrender because almost everyone who remained living within their county boundaries did so as refugees or displaced individuals!!! So quickly did this happen that by 1951-1954 only about thirty-five locals remained living within our borders!!!!! This rapid change brought about large city-like development patterns outside our community limits!!!! Which brings us full circle back where we started……..as citizens & longtime residents……………..of our community origins……………………………………….
Pineville was founded in 1786 by Frenchmen. The city grew quickly after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, and by 1860 it had reached its current size. The city was named for General James Wilkinson, who fought in the American Revolution and served as a brigadier general in the War of 1812. The Wilkinson family kept a small store in Pineville until 1840, when they opened a larger store on Lafayette Street. In 1851, the Wilkinson brothers built an ice cream parlor in Pineville to retail their product. In 1865, the first post office was established in Pineville. By 1880, Pineville had become an important manufacturing center for sugar cane products and other agricultural goods. During World War II, pine ville produced munitions for both France and Britain
