A millinery shop was started by Mrs. Anna Kistler around this time; it closed about 1930s due to lack of customers or competition from other businesses within town limits. In 1887, Reverend Waddell Crouch purchased land east of town from Colonel Pine for use as an agricultural farm; he built two churches—oneMethodist and one Baptist—in Pineville during this time frame. After World War II ended Garrison High School opened for students in 1945 on sectional property near Slaughter Creek Road northwest of town center which had been deeded to that school district by then-Governor Orval Faubus days before his state takeover of education functions following VE Day on May 8, 1945;Faubus allowed parochial schools into central Louisiana while maintaining centralized control over education within each parish via state funding streams that provided slightly more than 50% of total statewide public school budget). After Garrison High School closed its doors for students following World War II Garrison Elementary School opened on tract adjacent to current day Slaughter Creek Road across from Garrison High School (now known as First Christian Academy) with grades K-12th grade being operated jointly by both villages through their respective village board committees); however only 5th gradeinternet access was offered through pre-kindergarten program offered through First Christian Academy until 2006 when administration discontinued such offer citing budgetary constraints associated with new enlarged highschool complex located adjacent to academy which required additional funding sources not available from Village Board committees which funded pre-kindergarten program thru Administration for all 7th grade students thru 2016). As per Village Board policy , Internet access thru PreK programs should continue thru 2018 when new highschool complex will become operational & internet Access will be available thru existing highschool buildings
