In 1846, Nicholas-Jacques Conte created the ConteScope, which was one of the first mechanical sights designed specifically for uses with optical equipment such as telescopes and eyeglasses. The ConteScope incorporated moving parts into its design so that it could be easily adjusted to adjust focus while viewing distant objects or scenes at close range through your telescope or eyeglasses. During World War II, several military personnel stationed in New Iberia utilized Optical Sight kits (OSS)developed by General Electric during World War II in an attempt to improve accuracy when targeting targets across large areas using spotlights and other types of munitionsights ashore on Okinawa Island from 1942-1945; these OSS kits were also later developed into today's portable spotting scopes/ Optics Kits from Raytheon Corporation utilizing state-of-the-art electronics technology available today!

In 1851, the first lens made in New Iberia was a 4x eyepiece. By 1881, the city had an optical instrument shop with a 5x telescope and a 10x periscope. In 1895, an optical instrument company was founded and by 1912, there were three photographic studios in New Iberia.
New Iberia, Louisiana is a small town in the parish of St. Bernard in the Orleans-Jefferson Parish, Louisiana region. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. New Iberia was founded by Spanish settlers in 1769 and named for San Isidro de la Habana, Havana, Cuba. In 1808 it became an independent parish under French rule. The first post office opened in 1809 and the first school was built in 1812. The present courthouse was built in 1904 and dedicated by President Theodore Roosevelt on November 10th that year. The town's economy has been based primarily on agriculture since its founding; however, Manufacturing has also become a significant factor over time with many businesses starting up here such as Sugarland Baking Company (now known as Houlahan’s) and Caddo Mills Incorporated (now known as KFC). A few years ago there were plans to open a new shopping mall called "The New Iberia Mall". This project never took off because of lack of funding or interest from local businesses who felt they could have done better than a mall that wasn't tailored specifically to their industry or location. Today New Iberia continues to be an important center for trade and commerce with residents commuting into larger cities such as Baton Rouge or New Orleans for work or pleasure purposes. Many people here are descendants of Spanish settlers who arrived during the early 19th century when Louisiana became part of Mexico after independence from Spain. Today most residents are bilingual so communication between locals and tourists can be easily handled without any language barriers

By 1900, all countries except Great Britain had replaced their wooden plates with metal mirrors which allowed astronomers to improve their images and make better observations of distant stars and galaxies. With technology like this, it is no wonder that astronomy has become one of the most popular fields in the world!

This was a 6-inch (15 cm) aperture telescope that could be used to view objects in space. The Palomar Observatory was later replaced by the California Institute of Technology's (Caltech) observatory, which hosted the first moon landing.
New Iberia, Louisiana is a town in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The population was 8,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge-Metairie-Lake Charles Metropolitan Statistical Area. New Iberia has been called "The Gateway to the Mississippi Delta" and "The heart of the delta region". The first European to set foot in what is now New Iberia was Jean Lafitte on July 31, 1718 when he and his men arrived from Mobile Bay on an expedition led by Rear Admiral John James Cook. Lafitte named this area La Nouvelle Isère after his father's birthplace in France. New Iberia became a notable oil center during World War II because of its production of gasoline for military use and other items used in munitions manufacturing. The old courthouse building still stands and is used as a library today by the New Iberia Parish Library Foundation Incorporated (NIPLF). Citizens of New Iberia fought valiantly in both world wars, displaying great patriotism throughout both conflicts through their service either within or outside the armed forces. Two such citizens are Earl Warren Gillem and Robert E Lee, who were later inducted into the United States Military Academy at West Point where they would become generals under President Franklin D Roosevelt during World War II before ultimately losing that war against Japan.
New Iberia became a town in 1828 and was named for the now-extinct Iberian people. The town was organized by act of legislature on October 10, 1830. New Iberia was renamed for General James Longstreet, who had fought in the American Civil War.
