Gun target history in New Iberia, Louisiana goes back to the early 1800s. The first targets were made from tree limbs and other natural objects. Over time, man began using metal targets to shoot at. By 1876, a cannon was installed on the southeast corner of Main and Elm Streets and a large gunnery range was opened. In 1903, a rifle range was established on the northeast corner of Elm and Main Streets. A number of pistols were also manufactured here at this time. In 1925, a shotgun range was established on the northeast corner of Elm and Houston Streets. A number of handguns were also produced here in that era. By 1939, an ammunition depot had been built on the northwest corner of Elm Street and Brown Street near present day Third Avenue Shopping Center. Ammunition supplies for both artillery shells and rifles were stored here during World War II. In 1961, Old Tiger Gun Shop became known as “The Arsenal” due to its extensive collection of fired firearms dating back to pre-Revolutionary War days in New Iberia! Today’s Old Tiger Gunshop is one of the oldest gun stores in town with over 120 years old continuous operation! It is also home to many rare Firearms &ammunition items not available any where else!

The first gun battle in New Iberia took place on November 5, 1836 when a group of French settlers, led by Captain Pierre-Alexandre Laffitte, fought off an Indian attack. On December 12, 1836, a small contingent of American soldiers and civilians under the command of Colonel John Brown invaded the sugar plantation of General James K. Polk and his Comanche Scouts. The Americans were able to rout the scouts and capture two cannons and some ammunition before retreating back to their camp. On January 8, 1840, a group of Texans attacked several Native Americans nearpresent-day Lafayette Parish. A three-hour engagement ensued with neither side achieving any successes. In 1865, Union forces burned down the old Château d'Iberville following its surrender during the Battle at Prairie du Chien. This event is generally recognized as marking the end of Confederate resistance in Louisiana.
New Iberia, Louisiana is a small town in southeastern Louisiana. The population was 5,607 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Livingston Parish. New Iberia has three shopping malls, two hospitals, and a large agricultural complex. The area around the town was once known as "The swamp" because of its high number of water moccasins and other swamp animals. New Iberia began to be settled in 1836 by Frenchmen who had immigrated to what is now Louisiana from Quebec City in Canada. In 1840, John Sutter founded Sutter's Fort on the east bank of the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. He also founded Sacramento County in California along with his brother-in-law Jedediah Smith. These early settlers were part of what is now called Old Louisiana. In 1848, General Zachary Taylor became president of the United States after winning the presidential election that year against incumbent Andrew Johnson. With Taylor's support, Saints (or Cajuns) led by Jean Lafitte began an uprising against Spanish rule in Louisiana that eventually ended with Spain ceding control over all but southwestern Louisiana to France in 1813 under Napoleon Bonaparte's Third Republic. This event is generally considered to have started the American Civil War because within months of Spain ceding control over this territory (along with much else), Confederate forces had invaded Texas and begun fighting there for annexation into Confederate America while various battles took place throughout southcentral Louisiana between Unionists and Confederates seeking allies among their respective forces as well as territory north of Interstate 10 which lay within Confederate lines at that time outside Of any state or federal jurisdiction except for a few scattered villages located inside Union lines - particularly those near Jefferson Parish just across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans - thus providing Union troops with an opportunity both materially as well as politically to intervene militarily where they did so without incurring hostility or belligerent action from either side - something which would not have been possible if such intervening forces had come under Federal direct military command instead being divided evenly amongst all participating armies/agencies). Following Taylor's presidency another period characterized by economic stability followed although some tension always existed between Democrats & Republicans due primarily to differences over social issues including education reform especially during Grover Cleveland’s first term (1893-1901) when public schools were opened only to white children while African Americans were taught through private schools; this situation abruptly changed when William McKinley became President following passage of The Sherman Anti-Trust Act (1897) giving management power back unto individual businesses rather than government agencies thereby unifying all business interests behind one roof thereby ending discrimination against businesses owned by individuals regardless race or gender.) Another period marked by progressivism starting with Franklin D Roosevelt taking office became increasingly difficult due largely to World War II however; many advancements including miscellaneous social programs such as Social Security Administration were later enacted during Lyndon B Johnson’s administration culminating with passage of Medicare & Medicaid legislation ensuring healthcare coverage for everyone regardless ability to pay however these laws came about largely due opposition within Congress from powerful insurance industry lobbyists who successfully opposed any measures tending towards nationalization thereof effective immediately upon passage & implementation despite having no real knowledge or experience whatsoever concerning healthcare provision & administration either inside OR outside OF THE SENATE / HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES let alone WITH RESPECT TO MEDICAID / CHILDHOOD AID / ECONOMIC JUSTICEissues relative thereto henceforth becoming known colloquially simply as ObamaCare) prior thereto even further weakening vetoes attempts by Republican majorities within both Houses whereby unpopular bills become law notwithstanding popular opposition among most citizens & members thereof notwithstanding continuing efforts on behalfOf individual House members (& most notably then Speaker Nancy Pelosi) thru annual parliamentary procedures known formally as “Opinion shows” Notwithstanding continued poor results attributable mainlyto factors listed above resulting in increasing frustration levelsamong most people resultant in mass uprisings (& protests) throughout America periodically averaging approximately 3 per day nationally since 1789 whenever sufficient numbersof people are gathered together pursuant To specified rules set forth therein irrespective Of whether such gatherings result In actual physical violence occurring))

New Iberia, Louisiana is a small town in southwestern Louisiana. The population was 8,522 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Shreveport-Bossier City, LA Metropolitan Statistical Area. New Iberia was founded on July 12, 1803 by Spanish settlers as Villa Rica de la Bahía de Navidad. The name derived from its location near the mouth of the Iberiana River and its close proximity to Mexico City. The first post office in New Iberia opened in 1824. In 1861, Confederate General Braxton Braggs moved his headquarters from Baton Rouge to New Iberia after his army invaded Texas and abandoned Baton Rouge. On November 9, 1861 Governor John Pemberton issued a proclamation calling for citizens of Louisiana to rise up against the Confederacy and support their Union brethren. Over 1,500 men responded to this call and formed an Independent Company of Rangers under Captain John Aiken that became known as "The Texans." The town's first store was established in 1865 by Isaac Basden and Wm Henson. In 1868 Jno Fenton organized a Masonic Lodge with Sam Houston as its Grand Master. In 1903 Father Divine erected the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes which served as parish church until 1924 when it was demolished due toandals; Father Divine also built addition two churches (St Patrick's Episcopal Church (1892) and St Joseph's Catholic Parish (1904)). On January 7, 1915 a tornado touched down just outside New Iberia killing three people along with ninety-six other injuries within minutes; this event remains one of the most deadliest tornadoes in United States history Cotton oil drums were used as building materials throughout much of rural Louisiana during the 19th century because they were cheap and easy enough to build without nails or screws; however these days construction materials are expensive and many homes have lost their roofs due to termites or hail damage . For years residents have unsuccessfully tried to get state funding for repairs done on their roofs that have cost more than $150 per roof replacement In 1921 local attorney James Mclntyre organized what would become known as "The Oldtimers" group who campaigned for city government reform including providing services such as sewers, lighting, parks etc., all while Preservation League member Harry Truman helped lead fundraising efforts . After years of organizing meetings at various civic organizations properties like Beauregard Elementary School had been leased but never started construction until 1978 when developer Donnie Giles donated land for school purposes .............. In 1862, New Iberia became the capital of Louisiana after Baton Rouge was destroyed during the American Civil War. The city experienced significant growth during Reconstruction following the war, and by 1870 it had reached its peak population size. However, economic prosperity gradually declined in New Iberia throughout the 20th century, culminating in its decline as a major center of commerce and culture in Louisiana in the early 21st century.
