It was in 1892 when a group of men from Morgan City, Louisiana decided to start a clothing company. The group's name was Patten & Farrell and their first product was a shirt. At the time, most people in Morgan City wore dresses or skirts so they didn't need clothing other than what they were wearing on their heads. They started selling shirts and eventually other items as well. When the business grew, they moved to a larger facility and began manufacturing firearms t-shirts as well. The company continued to grow until it merged with another company in 1929. After that, the company went out of business for several years before being reborn in 1974 as T-shirt Depot. Today, T-shirt Depot is one of the largest manufacturer of firearm t-shirts in the world and continues to sell products related to firearms throughout the United States and internationally.

Morgan City is a small town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Bogalusa metropolitan area. The first permanent European settlement in Morgan City was made on November 3, 1803 by Captain John Smith and his party when they set out from Baton Rouge to explore crescent shaped bayou that led to the Mississippi River. They named their new settlement "Morgantown" after General James Wilkinson's victory at Buena Vista Creek near Santa Rita de los Angeles on October 7, 1805. In 1830, Judge Edward Jones located a post office in Morgan City and moved the courthouse there from Baton Rouge. In 1836-1837 Governor Andrew Johnson established a military post called Fort Enterprise within present day Morgan City limits as part of Operation Crossroads during the Mexican-American War. The fortifications were abandoned in 1861 following America's entry into the American Civil War and no longer exist today. The community declined after World War II because of its dependency on agriculture for economic support; however, it has since recovered with development of new businesses and an increase in population over recent years. The town square currently contains a convenience store (Wine & Cheese), two restaurants (Four Peaks BBQ and Capital Grains Bakery), several small businesses including 4Crown Liquor Store, Ponderosa Grill & Brewery, First Presbyterian Church (now Baptist) and Community Bank are also located around it., There are plans to install water systems for all dwellings within 2021 which should bring increased tourism to town center as well as bringing more jobs into town while increasing self-reliance

They decided to create a shirt specifically dedicated to Firearms Training Center (FTC) students. After seeing how popular the shirts were, they began creating other designs with different colors and themes. In 1969, FTC released its own line of handgun training clothing called "Gunman's Guide to Weapons Handling." This line became very successful, giving ammunition to the gunshirt craze that was growing at the time. In 1973, NRA released its own line of firearms training apparel called "The Gunfighter's Bible." This line became very successful, helping people learn about all sorts of different rifles and shotguns. Since then, there have been countless other lines released by both NRA and FTC which helped create what we know today as firearm t-shirts! Today, there are almost limitless possibilities when it comes to designing firearm t-shirts!

In 1851, Morgan City became the capital of Louisiana after New Orleans was moved to that state from St. Louis. It remained as the state's capital until Baton Rouge took over in 1958. During the late 19th century and early 20th century, Morgan City experienced significant growth due to its importance as a transportation hub for south Louisiana and its ties to the cotton industry. However, during World War II it saw increased bombing raids from Allied forces and was heavily damaged by bombings including one that destroyed much of the town's infrastructure. After the war, Morgan City slowly began to rebound with new development, becoming known for its arts and cultural scenes despite struggles with poverty and crime. In recent years there has been renewed interest in revitalizing both Morgan City and its economy through initiatives like education and economic development programs.
Morgan City was founded by John Morgan in 1822. The town rapidly grew and by 1848 it had a population of around 1,500. It quickly became an important junction on the route between New Orleans and Lafayette. In 1860, the town was destroyed by a lightning strike, but was rebuilt within a few years. The most significant event to take place in Morgan City occurred during the American Civil War when General Robert E. Lee arrived there on July 8, 1861 to lead Confederate forces against Union forces under Ulysses S. Grant. The battle that ensued saw significant property damage and loss of life as well as many key decisions made throughout the war including the Battle of Gettysburg which took place nearby in 1863. After the war, Morgan City reverted back to its pre-war status as a small farming community with modest industry however it continued to grow until around 1920 when it reached its current size of about 25,000 people
