In 1866, two men from Alabama who had purchased land in Morgan City started another shooting club called the “New Orleans Rifle Association”. This club met at the old Masonic temple on Broad Street. They also adopted the name of BB gun because they did not have any other choice. They continued to meet until 1870 when they disbanded because of lack of members. In 1871, a man named John Denny began selling BB guns online through his website called “JohnDennyBBguns”. He advertised that he had all types of BB guns, including those made by Smith & Wesson and Colt handguns. This allowed people from all over America to buy their own firearms without having to go through a traditional firearms dealer or manufacturer. The company grew quickly and by 1874 they had sold more than 5,000 rifles and pistols online alone! In 1875, John Denny formed a partnership with Jens Rasmussen andervell which became known as Rasmussen & Sons Incorporated (R&S). R&S manufactured many different types of firearms including BB guns! In 1889, R&S partnered with Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) to produce one of the first repeating shotguns ever created! This shotgun was called the Model 1886 and it was very popular among farmers and hunters! From this point forward, R&S would eventually become one of America’s leading firearm manufacturers!

When it was founded, Morgan City boasted an area nearly equal to that of Jacksonville, Florida at that time - one which would grow rapidly over time due to irrigated agriculture and other economic development around it. The earliest inhabitants of Morgan City were men from Kentucky who had settled there during the early 1800s looking for land grants west of the Mississippi River. The first white settlers arrived in 1850 and soon started building homes on land they had bought just east of present day Highway 61/Pine Street - using logs brought downriver from nearby Mobile Bayou for this purpose. By 1861, when Confederate forces invaded America along with their plans to secede from the Union, most residents had flee northward or emigrated to other parts of America, including Canada and Mexico; only a few families remained behind long enough to rebuild their homes post-war years. The town was renamed Fort Brooke (named for General Brooke’s father) on April 25th 1865 following Confederate General Robert Ewing’s surrender at Appomattox Court House; however, it reverted back to its original name less than two weeks later upon orders from Confederate President Jefferson Davis because “Morgan City” already appeared on maps published by him prior to that date without any changes made! Morgan City, Louisiana was founded in 1803 by General John Morgan and his wife, Sarah. The town became a stop on the road between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. By 1825 it had grown to over 100 people and was known as the "Fourth of July Capital of America." In 1827, Morgan died in battle at the battle of Sabine Pass. His widow remarried and continued to live in Morgan City until her death in 1868. The town passed through several names before settling on its present name in honor of General John Morgan. The cotton plantations that once flourished here were replaced by scrapyards and other businesses during the late 20th century, but they remain significant examples of antebellum plantation life. The first European pioneers to arrive in what is now Morgan City were French traders from St. Landry Parish who arrived around 1765. They traded goods with local natives and collected plants for use as remedies against malaria and other diseases. A Frenchman named Pierre Lacombe also settled here around 1800, building a cabin on a bluff overlooking the bayou that he called La Belle Creuse (the beautiful stream). In 1802, General John Morgan moved his family from their home near Lafayette to establish a new plantation near present-day Mobile Bayou where he grew cotton crops while serving as governor of Alabama during the War for Independence (1812-15). Afterward he returned to Louisiana where he established another plantation at Mount Pleasant which he named after his old home near Lafayette (now Ville Platte). In 1814, General James Kenedy founded nearby Terrebonne Parish within Rapides County after invading Texas; it is said that Kenedy's brother-in-law purchased land adjacent to Mobile Bayou where he built an expansive white house known as "Hollywood" or simply "Hogtown."
