Minden, Louisiana is a small town in the parish of Orleans in the southern region of Louisiana. The population was 7,853 at the 2010 census. Minden is located on I-10 between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. It is part of the Lafayette, LA Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1881, Minden's first post office was established and it remained that way until it was discontinued in 1916. In 1905, Minden had its own school board which continued to exist until 1959 when it merged with Lafourche Parish schools. The town's first store opened in 1860 and its second store opened in 1861. The town's only doctor operated from 1867 to 1886 and his practice became known as the "Dr. Jost Store". In 1892, Judge John Hinson founded what would become known as Mississippi Valley Telephone Company which connected Minden with Jackson, Mississippi; Bolton, Tennessee; Memphis; Tupelo, MS; Prairie du Chien, WI; Red Oak Beach on Lake Pontchartrain west of New Orleans; and various other towns throughout central Louisiana including Opelousas and Alexandria along I-10 near Mobile Bayou. It wasn't until 1907 when a wireless telegraphy service began operations across Minden’s borders with neighboring Thibodaux via an leased line owned by Gulf Telegraph Company (now AT&T) from a wooded bluff overlooking Sabine Pass outside Thibodaux that true telecommunications began for mindensians – long before we knew about them! In 1933 a new phone company called American Telephone & Telegraph (AT&T) came into being makingMinden one of their original 10 “Baby Bells” while providing services such as local phone calls within Minden itself as well as calls to other areas throughout Lafourche Parish! During World War II many residents served in our military either through National Guard or Air Force roles coding messages across America earmarked for Japan! When hostilities ended we all slowly returned to normalcy but some not so quickly... like Mrs./Mr./Gramma/Uncle Sam himself who still resides right hereabouts today waiting patiently for just the right moment to enter back into this wonderful world once more!

Minden is a small town in Louisiana, located about an hour south of New Orleans. The population was 5,541 at the 2000 census. Minden is a mix of French and English speaking people who live in small rural towns and villages. The town was founded in 1868 by Col. George Washington Hardin and his family as a trading post on the Red River near present-day Baton Rouge. In 1904, Minden became a part of the newly created parish of Jefferson and was renamed to Minden after General James Hogg, commander of Confederate forces during the American Civil War. The history of Minden begins with its founding as a trading post on the Red River by Colonel George Washington Hardin in 1868. For many years, it functioned as an important stopping point for travelers between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. By 1904, Minden had become known for its delicious red kraut (a type of cabbage), hand-rolled cigarettes (used until recently to generate power from stoves), local dairy products, cotton goods,Andalusian horses,and general merchandise available at low prices throughout the parish of Jefferson within which it lay. In 1886, General James Hogg arrived in Mississippi with Confederate forces for what would be his final battle against Union troops before joining them in Texas several months later. After being arrested and tried for treason following his surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865, he chose to hang instead than serve out his sentence under military law which would have resulted in death or imprisonment at Fort Monroe – where he would have been subject to close observation by Union authorities leading up to their planned execution date). As part of efforts by Confederate Generals John Pemberton and Robert Ewell to protect themselves upon their return home following Hogg's surrender (an event that effectively ended Reconstruction across much southern America), Pemberton ordered all Confederate prisoners held at Fort Monroe not be executed but instead be released into circulation among various guerrilla groups operating outside both Union lines – one such group being led by Captain William Troupes who had served under Hogg during his captivity at Fortress Monroe). On November 1st 1887 – just days after General Hogg's death from natural causes while serving out his remainder of his sentence at Fort Monroe – minden residents voted 3-to-1to incorporation into the new parish of Jefferson formed pursuant to Louisiana statehood legislation passed two weeks earlier via an act entitled "An Act To reorganize Parishioners In A Parish Which Was Reorganized."
