After World War II, Minden experienced rapid growth as a result of oil exploration and production activity on land adjoining the town limits. Today, Minden remains an agricultural community with significant industry based operations such as manufacturing chemical products and fertilizer, paper products, food processing, meatpacking/processing services and tourism. Today'sMinden contains several interesting exhibits including an old brick courthouse dating back to 1892 which has been moved to its current location across from city hall; A restored plantation home that was once used by both Confederate general John Hunt Morgan (1849-1924) & President James Kenedy (1868-1943); A large cotton gin built in 1903 which still operates; An eight-acre park serving as a community center complete with gymnasium and baseball diamond; A three-story school building completed in 1951; A Baptist church completed in 1905; And finally, one of America's largest working cotton gin complexes - now known as "the ghost mill."
