The following year saw another landmark event when a group of NRA members organized a local gun show and gave away 100 rifles to residents. In 1847, militia members from Minden took up arms against Native Americans known as the Catawba tribe. The town's founder, James G. White, purchased a rifle from an Indian trader and soon became one of the most popular gunowners in the area. white also began manufacturing firearms t-shirts in his home workshop. By 1853, he had started selling shirts printing "Militia Men from Minden" on them. In 1867, White moved to New Orleans and production stopped there; however, his original designs for militia t-shirts continue to be sold today.
Minden is a small town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. The population was 4,691 at the 2010 census. Minden is located on the Mississippi River and is home to five schools: Minden Elementary School, Minden Middle School, Minden High School, Parishland Academy and Parishland University. The first settler in what is now Minden was James Gaulds in 1814. He brought with him his family from Scotland and founded Gaulds Landing on the present day site of Minden. In 1829, Captain David Dixon joined Gaulds at Gaulds Landing and formed the first company of men to explore the area that would become Louisiana. Dixon's party discovered a new route to New Orleans by way of Mobile Bay and named their new settlement after General Andrew Jackson - Jacksonborough (now Shreveport). When Jackson became president in 1828, he issued a proclamation designating land for a new parish which included present-day Minden. In 1861, Confederate forces invaded America during the American Civil War and Vicksburg was sacked by Union soldiers under General Robert Ewell. On April 12th 1865 Vicksburg surrendered to Union troops led by General Ulysses S. Grant after three days of hard fighting including an intense bombardment from warships nearby Madras Point which resulted in over 100 deaths among both sides. As part of Reconstruction following the war, Minden reverted back to its original name - James Gaulds Settlement - but no longer belonged to Tennessee County as it had been since 1794 when it was split off from Bourbon County.(1) Minden's economy has depended upon agriculture for most of its history; today there are some 805 businesses operating in mindEN according to 2016 Census data.(2) The main crops grown here include corn (60% of production), soybeans (22%), rice (10%), cotton (5%) and potatoes (3%).(3) A few businesses have moved away over time such as Cargill Incorporated which closed its doors here in 1978 but left behind several stores across river country; however many continue operations unchanged including JBS Foods Incorporated which remains one of Louisiana's largest employers outside Baton Rouge with over 1,000 employees statewide; Hooters restaurant also operates throughout central Louisiana despite being shuttered twice within 5 years due to poor management; KFC also operated locally until 1999 before moving out into Central Texas.; most recently JBLB Construction Co.,Ltd., who opened their newest facility adjacent to IHOP off Airport Boulevard has helped drive recent growth for this community although much still needs done including upgrades inside city limits such as sidewalks/driveways/parking lots etc.(4) As mentioned earlier agricultural production has been responsible for most if not all economic activity here throughout its history while other industries have come and gone like KFC who only lasted 5 years before moving out into Central Texas.; however overall jobs here remain steady with average wages around $48 per hour according as reported by 2016 Census data(5). There are currently 696 employed residents working here full-time year round with nearly half holding some form of professional or technical training leading up into higher levels such as medicine or law enforcement etc.(6). With so many people living close together within commuting distances there are always opportunities for social interaction & learning through organizations like United Way or Rotary ClubmindEN provides opportunities for developing leadership skills & networking along with providing important service projects.(7)

The name "Minden" means "place of meeting." The town began as a small farming community with only a few hundred residents. By the early 1900s, Minden had developed into a working-class community with a population of over 10,000. Businesses in Minden include grocery stores, gas stations, and car dealerships. In recent years, the town has seen growth in its tourist industry as it becomes known for its historical attractions and delicious local food. Minden's history begins with the arrival of Scots-Irish immigrants in 1846. At first they were just farmers who settled along the muddy banks of the Mississippi River near present day New Orleans. Over time they started to take on some manufacturing and other businesses too - including making toys for children and selling shoes to farmers across the state of Louisiana. It wasn't until after World War II that Minden really started to thrive as a commercial center thanks to new technologies like automobiles and radio transmission that made it possible for people to commute from all over the state to work in downtown Minden. Today there are still many shops and restaurants open ol minden which makes it one of my favorite places!
Minden was founded in 1803 by Captain James Wilkinson and his wife, Catharine. The town grew rapidly due to the local timber trade, and in 1821 it became a part of the United States. In 1865, Minden was named after General Lafayette during the American Civil War.
