After Donald Trump became President of United States in January 2017, he sold his shares in Dickey Bros., Lumberjacks to Jeff Immelt for $45 billion (465 billion EUR). In 1954, State Highway 8 was extended eastward from nearby Natchitoches through Minden to reach Thibodaux after crossing Red River by way of a bridge over Big Cypress Creek Bridge #2 which had been constructed two years earlier as part of New Orleans-Lafayette Expressway Project No. 2.[1] As part of this project, the old Big Cypress Creek Bridge #2 were demolished and replaced by the new bridge that still stands today! mindenilouisiana
In 1802, Minden was a small village of about thirty people. The town was named for General John Minden who had fought in the American Revolution. In 1815, Minden's post office was opened with four letters and two numbers. In 1823, the post office moved to its present location. On October 12, 1842, a fire destroyed most of Minden and all but three buildings in the town. The only building still standing today is the courthouse which was built in 1903.
