Minden, Louisiana is a small town in the parish of Orleans in the southcentral region of Louisiana. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is a small town with an open-air shopping mall and five churches. Minden was named after John Fenton, an American Revolutionary War general and commander of Brigade V., 8th Infantry Regiment. The first inhabitants of Minden were Native American hunter-gatherers who traveled along the Mississippi River to trade goods with other cultures. A French fur trader, Pierre L'Ouverture, discovered the area in 1765 and built a trading post here. In 1802, General Joseph Gibbs founded Fort Moselle here to protect Ulysses S. Grant's army from Indian attacks on the river road between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. In 1810, Minden became part of Jackson Parish when it was organized from parts of Orleans and St. Tammany parishes. In 1837, Napoleon Bonaparte moved his army overland from Metairie to attack Mobile Bayou; he ordered General Andrew Jackson to march against him across this bayou but instead Jackson destroyed part of his army before reaching Mobile Bayou on July 4th while retreating back upstream (the Battle of Gaines’ Mill). As a result of this battle, which ended in victory for Jackson, Minden became one of the most important strategic points on Mobile Bayou during this time period because it guarded both its mouth and its approach to New Orleans

This machine gun was originally designed for use on warships but soon became popular among military personnel and civilians alike due to its deadly accuracy and low recoil. Minden is a small town located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. The town was founded in 1848 and named for Nicholas Minden, a French general who fought in the American Revolution. The population of Minden peaked at over 100 residents in the 1930s, but has declined since then. Minden is now a census-designated place with a population of around 20 people. Minden is home to two sister towns: Crowley and Bayou d'Orleans. In 1954, these two towns were merged into one city and were renamed Minden-Crowley City. The city was merged again in 1984 when Crowley became an independent municipality. Today, Minden is considered an annex of New Orleans due to its shared borders with both cities. The history of Minden begins with the founding of the town by Nicholas Minden. He was on vacation in Louisiana when he discovered land that would eventually become Minden. At first, the town was called simply "NICHOLAS." However, there were already several settlements in this part of Louisiana so Nicholas decided to name his new community after himself: "Mindenn." It wasn't until 1848 that the first permanent settlers arrived to the area and began building homes - most notably John Ahern who built the Log Cabin Roadhouse on State Highway 8 near what is now Main Street (now US 1). In fact, it wasn't until 1852 that all resident's actually moved into their homes - rather than camping out like earlier pioneers had done. Thisinitial move set off a series of village meetings which determined how everything should be run from here on out (the first being held July 2nd). After some more deliberation and discussion, it was decided that daily school would be taught bynative Lecomtesians as well as white children from other villages who lived nearby; this system lasted until 1861 when state funding ran out for schooling altogether! After years of hard work by farmers and others within the community - including John Dolan Sr., father of Mayor John Dolan Jr.- Mindenn officially became a “village” on February 17th OF 1860! And just like that... life started looking up for locals! John Ahern continued to contribute much to society through his agricultural endeavors while also working tirelessly as an importer/exporter throughout his day job; selling everything from groceries to clothiers goods back into Europe. By 1863 he had bought 3 lots adjacent to where he currently lives & began construction on what would later become known as Main St.; still today one can see evidenceOF HIS FOUNDING DAYS HERE! When NICHOLAS got its current name mindenn established they elected Jameson Waddell Mayor On November 11th 1865; setting an example for how things could (& did) go down hereabouts thruout history! Notable citizens during this time include Mrs.(name unknown) Eakinan who bore 3 sets Of twins & Dr.(name unknown) Hodge whose family Owns property across from main street today
In 1853, Minden was founded as a small community by African Americans who were fleeing the cotton gin facilities in Jackson, Mississippi. The town became one of the most important centers for black culture in Louisiana. In 1892, Minden was renamed for General James A. Marshall after he led Confederate forces during the American Civil War.
