Newton. It used a rope to hold onto the post and allowed the user to see what was in front of them. In 1949, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Pritchett built a new Scope Mounting Company on First Street in Mandeville and began making their own mounts using an improved design that they called the "Pritchett Look." This mount allowed users to see what was behind them while keeping their rifle mounted securely on their gun rack or shelf. The company continued to make these mounts until 1979 when they went out of business due to lack of demand for their products. From then on, Scope Mounts Incorporated began manufacturing their own mounts with a new design that has been used ever since- the "Pritchett Style" mount!

Mandeville is a city in and the parish seat of Catoma Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 17,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans metropolitan area. The town was first settled by Acadians who arrived in Louisiana in 1699. The name "Mandeville" meaning "place where milk rises" comes from this fact. In 1802, General Andrew Jackson destroyed the village and burned down the church to punish its inhabitants for supporting France during the Napoleonic Wars. In 1819, French traders founded a trading post in what is now Mandeville; it became known as La Salleville after them. A mission was founded here in 1837 by Father Louis-Jacques Bénigne de Saint-Juste and Father Pierre-Simon LaFontaine with assistance from Governor Claiborne Pell. A school opened here in 1861 which served students until 1960 when it merged into nearby Lafitte High School. The city limits were expanded to include present day Catoma Parish on July 1, 1886 when an act of Congress created Catoma County under terms that included Mandeville within its boundaries (it had been part of Rapides Parish since 1800). On December 5, 1984, Hurricane Betsy struck central Louisiana causing extensive damage and loss of life; much of Mandeville was leveled including churches and homes dating back to pre-Civil War days. Over $5 million was appropriated for restoration efforts over several years with much still remaining to be done today including complete replacement or renovation of most historic buildings including both churches cemeteries as well as schools located within their denominations (including Lafitte High School) - making Mandeville one of America's most restored communities post-hurricane Katrina! The community has seen some growth recently due to new development adjacent to downtown; however much more needs to be done if Catoma Parish wants become economically viable again! As Baton Rouge neighbor uptown offers many opportunities for living close to work but also high quality schools like LSU & Tulane while also having easy access to freeway traffic both ways - Catoma Parish may find itself slipping behind once again if we don't take aggressive action!
