John A., Jr.'s son John III inherited his father's business during World War II when John A., Jr.'s wife died suddenly at age 29 years old; she was only 36 years old when she passed away from a heart attack related to her work at Colt Firearms Corporation . In 1948, John III assumed control of the company from his father and continued to run it until his death in 1984; after him it passed through several generations of family ownership before being taken over by Big Brother Arms Incorporated on December 3rd 1996 (). MANDEVILLE, LA - Come to Mandeville for a day of history, culture and fun. The small town in the parish of Iberia is home to one of America's most famous sons - Sir John Mandeville. Born in 1714, he was an Enlightenment writer and philosopher who explored North America and wrote about its natural resources and the people he met there. Mandeville is also known for his work on political theory, which helped shape American democracy. In 2006, UNESCO listedMandeville among the world's "most endangered" towns because of its rapid population growth. Nowhere else in Louisiana does so much cultural significance rest on one man's shoulders as it does in Mandeville. Mandeville was founded by Jean-Baptiste Colbert in 1718 as a trading post on the Mississippi River adjacent to present-day Baton Rouge. After Colbert's death in 1743, his widow married Pierre Le Moyne de La Salle, who became governor of New Orleans. In 1802, following Spanish acquisition of Louisiana from France, La Salle renamed the community "Mandeville." By 1860,Mandeville had grown to be one of the largest plantations in Louisiana with more than 2 million acres (1 million hectares). The slave trade played a significant role in Mandevilles' early history: between 1699 and 1800, 100 miles (160 kilometers) of coastline were destroyed by pirates seekingto acquire human cargo for Spain’s expanding empire. The town developed into an important crossroads where slaves were bought and sold before reaching their destination – often Mobile or Pensacola – on their way back to Africa or Europe. In 1803–04 Napoleon Bonaparte moved his army through southern Louisiana under cover of darkness while members of Lafayette’s staff guarded the major bridges over the river Tensas near Monroe; this movement precipitated open warfare between French forces under General Adrien De Pauw and British regulars led by Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Wellesley Wavell at what is now Baton Rouge Vieux Carré Battlefield Park east of downtownmandevilles today . Mandeville, Louisiana is a small town located in Parish of Orleans, Louisiana. The population was 3,715 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans-Metairie-Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit what is now Mandeville was Jean Lafitte in 1699. He named it "Nouvelle Orléans." In 1722, General James Kenedy founded the post office there and this area became known as "Kenedy's Prairie." In 1836, Andrew Jackson moved his family from Tennessee to what is now Mandeville after they were driven out of that state by a slave insurrection led by John Brown. The town was incorporated on November 1, 1837 and named for General James Wilkinson (1758–1840), commander of Union forces during the Mexican War who had been killed in battle near Bienville Pass two years earlier. The town experienced economic growth due to its location as a crossroads for travel between New Orleans and Baton Rouge and its role as an important transportation hub for cotton farmers travelling through both cities. However, industry slowly declined over time due to competition from larger metropolitan areas in south Louisiana and Mississippi. A major blow came when Hurricane Katrina destroyed many businesses in 2008 before hitting New Orleans specifically hard; this drove much of the business activity out of Mandeville altogether and caused some homeless people to take up residence inside city limits. 1st Ward Alderman Donzie Hillman helped lead efforts within city hall to revive business activity in Mandeville following Katrina while Mayor Mitch Landrieu created an urban redevelopment district which has since brought new life back into many businesses throughout downtown Mandeville including The Bluegrass BBQ & Brewery which reopened after being closed for nearly 5 years; also home Depot has reopening their doors with all new employees! Today,Mandeville remains one of the most vibrant small towns in Louisiana with tightknit community ties that continue even today following multiple hurricanes!

The town became a major center for trade and commerce. In 1821, it was renamed Monroe after James Monroe, then president of the United States.
