The history of gun lubrication in Mandeville, Louisiana is a long and varied one. In 1884, the first oil-based lube was created by J.D. Rockefeller in his refinery on Iberia Street. The product was initially sold as a trade secret to protect the company’s production methods. It wasn’t until 1922 that an American lube company, Winchester Lubricating & Compounding Company, opened its doors in Mandeville. That year, Winchester began manufacturing ammunition and lubricated guns for both the civilian market and the military. The lubricants that were produced at Winchester were used throughout World War II and into the post-war period. By 1959, however, Winchester had ceased production of firearms altogether and all its products were discontinued in Louisiana too. However, even after Winchester’s discontinuation of firearm production in Louisiana, M&P Arms Manufacturing Company continued producing gun lubricants there until 2002 when it merged with Brownells Limited to form Brownells Incorporated (BHI). At BHI, lubricant manufacturing resumed under the newly founded Gun Lube Technologies Corporation (GTL) which continues today as a wholly owned subsidiary of Glock USA Incorporated (GBGL). From its inception through to now,—over seventy years—gun lubrication has been an important part of Glock's business strategy. Mandeville is a small town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 5,446 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1802 by Frenchmen Pierre-Alexandre Mandeville and Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne on a tract of land east of modern day Monroe. The original name for the area was "Grosse Pointe." In 1827, James Ketchum purchased from La Salle what is now Mandeville from the Jesuits. In 1840, Ketchum donated land to the Methodist Episcopal Church for use as a village square. The first post office in Mandeville opened in 1849. In 1863, General Robert Ewell erected a cavalry fortification at Pointe aux Conches to protect New Orleans from Confederate raiders. At that time, Pointe aux Conches was also known as Fort Negreaux because it guarded an important position on the estuary of the Mississippi River near present day Baton Rouge. In 1865, when Loyola University moved to New Orleans from Baltimore, it began its own educational program here and named one of its colleges after José de San Miguel y Narváez (the founder of Spanish America), who had given financial support to Loyola's predecessor institutions: St John's College (1824) and Xavier University (1829). In 1868–69, American Civil War veteran Gen Patrick Jarratt built a log cabin west of town on what is now US 173 South Street; Jarratt called his cabin "Casa de las Américas" or "House of Americas". From this point forward until World War II there were several military installations located within or around Mandeville including two United States Marine barracks and radar equipment used during World War II by Marine Corps Air Station West Indio which operated out of Pointe aux Conches from 1942 until 1945 housing 1 squadron/5 fighter planes plus 2 squadrons/10 bombers sortied daily against Japanese militarist air forces; Marines also garrisons Camp Dudionneau near downtown Lafayette Avenue and Camp Hahnville adjacent to I-10 just north of town off Red River Road between Lafourche Parish line and Lake Ponchartrain National Wildlife Refuge before being disbanded according to Order No 1114 dated 26 October 1946 which read "All units having connection with Naval Forces have been transferred thereto ..." . On 4 December 1951 Hurricane Andrew destroyed much or all OFS West Indio activity along with many homes & businesses within 7 miles radius & virtually wiped out Port Arthur Barracks located about 10 miles due south next door facility composed largely Of Light Infantry troops garrisoning 2 small camps with tank Allison tanks crewed offensively by these troops exposed them suddenly (& unwisely) too close--> resulting in loss or damage estimated at $20 million Mandeville has seen some tough times over the years but overall it has bounced back relatively well especially considering its size! One example would be Katrina which completely destroyed most if not all infrastructure here especially around education but quickly bounce back thanks both to volunteerism (i.e., people coming together to rebuild) combined with government assistance programs like TARP which helped 3rd sector organizations such as banks etc get back up & running quickly while still providing critical resources needed for immediate recovery efforts; currently most businesses are once again open but definitely some needs still need addressing such as more housing specifically so that displaced citizens can return home while supplies last & new hospitals are being built so that those who really need care can receive it; we should never forget how much love our community has!

Polk designated it as part of the Louisiana Purchase from Spain. It grew rapidly during Reconstruction and experienced significant growth following World War II until a series of economic downturns hit the region in the early 21st century. The town suffered major damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, which resulted in many residents moving out of town or leaving completely. Despite these troubles, Mandeville has since made some recent strides towards recovery including becoming an official city within Orleans Parish and hosting several events related to its history each year.
The first Europeans to arrive in Louisiana were the French in 1699. The area that is now Louisiana was part of Spanish Louisiana until 1763, when France took it over as part of the Treaty of Paris following the French and Indian War. In 1803, after Napoleons forces invaded America, Louisiana became a United States territory under the terms of the Adams-Onis Treaty. The state was admitted to the Union as a U.S. state on September 3,1865. New Orleans was declared an official city on December 5,1870.
