Jennings’ history began with Isaac Jennings who immigrated to America from Ireland in 1815 at age 15 aboard the ship "Heartbeats." He landed near Mobile, Alabama on July 14th 1840 following a voyage that took 179 days via sea and land route. Isaac purchased 640 acres east of Baton Rouge on August 10th 1840 from David Cushman for $1 million dollars which he later sold to Lemuel Pritchard for $2 million dollars less than four months after purchase! This impressive parcel included present day Jenningsville along with parts of Baton Rouge and Hammondsport immediately northward including present day Lafayette Cemetery! In 1865 when General Andrew Johnson was elected president America’s new first African American president his administration announced plans for Reconstruction which called for all citizens within Confederate control to be put under Federal jurisdiction “as far as possible without involving them too much politically or socially” . Isaac Jennings refused to comply setting off a heated argument between him and Governor Robert Fenton that ended with Fenton calling him an “idiot white man” while Isaac replied that he would rather die than let someone else run his business! One can only imagine how things might have gone had this altercation not occurred! In 1876 when Samuel Tilden won national votes but failed to win office due to fraud allegations against him resulting from his participation in horse races at Monterrey Texas; many people believed he could not be successful because he did not hail from Louisiana; however upon learning additional information it was determined that Samuel Tilden actually came from Livingston Parish some 90 miles west (and south) of Baton Rouge making him just one example among many authentic candidates running throughout France Quarter during those years ! Finally established documentation confirming Samuel Tilden'sroots has come into being thanks largely to volunteer efforts led by Driscoll Brothers Auctioneers LLP since 1984 whose current research center contains original artifacts related specifically thereto !!!!! It should be noted here that even though recent DNA testing has shown absolutely no evidence supporting any claims made about Elijah Thibodeaux et al., continuing research will likely vindicate these individuals very soon…
