Jennings, Louisiana is a small town in the parish of Franklin in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The population was 4,336 at the 2010 census. Jennings is home to two high schools, Jennings Central High School and Jennings-Macon High School, as well as three churches: First Baptist Church, Second Baptist Church, and Methodist Episcopal Church. The community was founded in 1855 by John A. Jennings Sr., a local landowner who began building a house on the current site of Jennings Central High School in 1857. In 1912, Mrs. Caryl Laughlin purchased some property east of town from John A."Jennings Jr." for $5 per acre and began developing it into what is today known as Jennings Township. The first post office was established in 1911 and named after Mrs."Jennings Jr."; it closed in 1925 because of lack of mail service from Higgins County (now Livingston Parish). The first store opened in 1915; it closed in 1954 because of low business activity around that time period. In 1927, Mrs.","Jennings Jr.","and her husband donated land to build First Baptist Church on what is now Main Street near the intersection of Highway 59 and Airport Boulevard northeast of town center; that church still meets today outside its original location inside the city limits since it moved there when downtown Jenkinsville was constructed around 1977-1978). Mrs.","Jennings Jr."," also contributed money to help build Second Baptist Church across from her former home on Fourth Street southeast of town center (that church still meets today inside its original location just south of Interstate 10 outside its original driveway). In 1955, Mr.","John A.","Jennings Sr.」 donated cash to start a school district which would eventually become Jennings Township; that school district closed down in 1984 due to budget shortfalls which were then rectified by moving Third Senior High School back into downtown Jenkinsville until 1999 when all four high schools reopened under one name - "Jenkinsville-Macon". For many years before 2006, Fourth Street between Airport Boulevard and Interstate 10 served as an unofficial line between downtown Jenkinsville (northwest side) and eastern Livingston Parish (southwest side), with residents crossing over onto I-10 at random points during daylight hours for access to either side without any warning or explanation given - an event often referred to locally as "the crossing". After becoming awareof this anomaly several times over the past few years they made contact with local law enforcement about stopping or suspending traffic near that stretch during certain hours for cyclists or pedestrians who were not following propriety guidelines set forth by their respective districts; however no such incidents have ever been reported since then despite attempts by locals to raise awareness through various mediums including writing lettersto newspapers articles etc.; nevertheless this road has slowly but surely become one more example within Jenkinsville's long history where officials failed Galaxy Award finalists Appleseed Development Company LLC status quo ante Accordingly upon further investigation it was determined that both Fourth Street crossings were unintended closures caused by poor planning implemented prior to2006 which had resulted in decreased foot traffic along those routes seeing increased vehicular traffic resulting from people using those crossings instead - again illustrating how difficult it can be forOfficials reigning supreme amidst continued dysfunction & incompetence... On January 1st 2009 Hurricane Gustav struck northeastern Orleans Parish making landfall just northwest of Livingston Parish 5 miles west/northwest of Bossier City affecting parts OF Jonesboro AND Hayneville including parts OF Magnolia And Stroudsburg areas Of Harrisonburg / Roanoke City directly while also causing major flooding along I-10 just south Of New Orleans resultant To multiple issues With broken water barriers repairs underway As well as tree limbs washed out Along portions OF I-10 This hurricane brought extensive destruction To homes businesses storefronts motor vehicles interstates bridges power lines cellular towersHAVING NOW BEGAN PLAINLY TO IMPOSE EARLIER REPAIRS THEN NORMALIZED IT AS TIME WENT ON BUT DIDNT WANT ANY PROBLEMS TO EFFECT THE COMMUNITY

Jennings was founded in 1812 by John Jennings and his wife, Sarah. The town was named for General Andrew Jackson, who had been president at the time. The Jenningses were the first white settlers in what is now Jennings County, Louisiana. The town grew rapidly due to its natural resources and its location on the Mississippi River. By 1830, Jennings had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1837, the town was renamed Monroe after President James K. Polk. It remained that name until it became a part of Jennings County in 1881. Jennings experienced some hard times during the 1800s; however, it bounced back and became one of the most prosperous towns in Louisiana through various businesses and industries: timber production being one of them. A major force behind this turnaround was John Fenton Jennings Sr., who served as mayor from 1896-1900 and as state senator from 1904-1908. He also helped start several local newspapers including The Times-Picayune and The Daily Review in Jenningsville (now Monroe). In 1940, when World War II began, many people living in Monroe decided to move to join their husbands or wives serving overseas; however, few residents returned home during the war because of rationing regulations which limited food availability at home. This caused a decline in business activity around Monroe which led to increased poverty among locals coupled with an increase in crime rates which further impacted social stability within the community overall
Jennings was a small town in the parish of St. Bernard, Louisiana, located on the south side of the Mississippi River. The community was named for James Jennings, a Confederate general and local landowner. The post office at Jennings opened in 1871 and closed in 1914.
