Scope mounts have been a part of the Gretna, Louisiana community for over sixty years. The first scope mount in Gretna was erected in 1929 by J.H. Smith and Sons Company. In 1941, Fenton's Hardware Company erected the second scope mount in Gretna. The Mountaineers Rifle Club of America (MRCA) was founded in 1945 and became a dues-paying member of the NRA in 1951. The MRCA purchased its first rifle, an M1 Carbine, from Chantry Arms Corporation on October 1, 1945. As a result of their membership with the NRA, the MRCA was able to provide technical assistance to other organizations throughout our country during World War II as well as during later conflicts such as Korea and Vietnam when needed. In 1949, Mr. William Ransom installed a three-gun Scope Mount at his home which is still standing today! The installation consisted of four knobs on top of metal supports that allowed shooters to change magnification from 3x to 18x without having to remove their rifles from their scopes! This event marked the beginning of modern day scope mounts in Gretna! Mr. Ransom's mount continues to be used by various shooting groups throughout town and around Louisiana today! The downside is that Picatinny Rail requires some precise installation in order for it to work correctly; however, this can be compensated for by using a proper torque wrench when tightening screws which tends to make these rigs very reliable over time.

Gretna, Louisiana is a small town in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. The population was 5,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. Gretna has been inhabited by humans for over 10,000 years. The first Europeans to visit Gretna were French colonists in 1699. In 1803, United States troops burned down the courthouse and other buildings in what is now Gretna as part of an unsuccessful attempt to quash local insurrection against American rule. In 1830, General Andrew Jackson visited Gretna and ordered the closure of all slave markets inlrthe state because they violated federal law. This event helped start the abolitionist movement in Louisiana. Gretna became an official U.S.-held city on September 25, 1904 following the end of World War I and subsequent Treaty of Paris which ended hostilities between France and America during that conflict. At that time it had a population of 602 people and was served by one postal service office (Ft Worth Post Office). The post office closed on October 24th 1934 due to budget cuts within the newly created City government headed by Mayor Vann Woodward II with then-City Manager John Fenton serving as acting manager from November 4th through December 2nd 1934 until appointment of new City Manager Clyde Hogue effective January 1st 1935 under new ordinance No: 9193-A sponsored by Mayor Hogue which set forth guidelines for municipal government including zoning regulation; fire prevention; street maintenance; trash collection; insurance rates; mail service etc.; among other things The first African American to serve as mayor was Floyd McKissick who took office on January 1st 1935 after being elected unopposed via a vote cast at a special election held pursuant to ordinance No: 9193-A allowing African Americans only voting if they resided within municipality boundaries or could demonstrate ownership thereof through deed or contract purchase/rental arrangement with white homeowner
Scope mounts are a type of mount used for attaching optics to the barrel of a firearm. The history of scope mounts can be traced back to at least 1853, when French Weaponry Company developed and manufactured an early form of scope mount known as a “Oscar” mount. This mount consisted of a steel tube that was inserted into the bore of the rifle and then screwed to the barrel using four round-head screws. It was not until 1894 that British Weaponry company developed and manufactured their own version of this mount known as an “API” (Antilock Pistol Grip) mount. Thismount incorporated a solid brass tube that fitted into the breechblock and had two Picatinny rails running along its length. It remained in production until 1925. The development and manufacture of Scope Mounts has played an essential role in allowing shooters across different disciplines to use high quality optics with their firearms without having to refrain from using stocks or other accessories that would negatively impact accuracy or range performance. Gretna, Louisiana was founded in 1836 by the French and Germans. The town was named for General James K. Polk, who had helped liberate the United States from Mexico during the Mexican-American War. The town grew quickly due to its location on a bend in the Red River and its rich soil. In 1840, Gretna became an important stop on the Underground Railroad as freedom seekers fleeing slavery traveled through the town. In 1861, Confederate troops burned down much of Gretna and most of nearby Alexander City after invading Missouri. After Union forces recaptured Gretna in 1865, it continued to grow rapidly until World War II when it lost much of its population to emigration and natural disasters. Today, Gretna is a small but thriving community with a rich history that is still commemorated through local festivals and historical exhibits. Its main attraction is its large collection of Civil War era artifacts which can be seen at various museums throughouttown. Additionally, there are several restaurants and bars located inthe city that offer deliciouslocal cuisine along with interesting stories about their founders or owners
Gretna was founded in 1819 by Captain John L. Alexander and his wife, Margaret. The town was named after the small island of Gretna off the coast of Louisiana. At its peak, Gretna had a population of over 1,500 people. By 1860, however, it had only 100 residents remaining. In 1881, Gretna became a post office with ZIP code 70822. The town declined in popularity until the early 20th century when it again regained some prominence as a transportation hub for the area due to its location on US 90 and Interstate 10.
