Union forces under General Ulysses S Grant then advanced through Etienneville on November 2nd and entered into battle against Confederate General Price at New Lookout Creek nearpresent day La Grange. By November 10th Price had retreated back to Baton Rouge but not before suffering significant casualties including three generals killed and 11 others wounded; this event became known as "Price's Ride". At least one settler died from his wound during that battle. After Reconstruction ended in 1865, many black Americans moved to rural areas across Louisiana following new policies designed to promote white supremacy over African Americans. Some members of these families attended local schools while others worked on their farms or factories until they could afford children’s education; this process often resulted in separation between white and black residents which continues to this day In 1882 Wm Henson founded Baptist Bible College which would become Emmanuel Seminary later that year; it was here that Ebenezer Baptist Church was organized on December 5th, 1882 with Wm Hall serving as its first pastor In 1906 Jno Ladd donated land for use as a shopping center which would later be called Village Square Mall ; it opened its doors to shoppers on July 1st, 1907 In 1969 A&P included groceries within its store concept which would eventually lead to grocery stores opening throughout coastal Louisiana Today music still plays an important role within society here with several churches having Wagner performances each year Most importantly though business has continued to grow here with various types of businesses such as health care services being added recently

Eunice, Louisiana was a small town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is named for General Eunice of Korea who fought in World War II. The post office at the time of its incorporation was called "Eunice". The first postmaster, James J. White, served from 1892 to 1911. In 1914 the name was changed to "Eunice" after General Eunsiek Lee of the Republic of Korea and his wife, Alice Hargrave. The community had a population of about 350 when it incorporated as an unincorporated community on November 3rd, 1907. By 1930 the population had grown to 1,600 residents and by 1940 it had reached 2,000 residents. It was annexed by New Orleans on December 12th of that year and became part of the City Limits Annexation District No. 2 within New Orleans limits until 1959 when it reverted back to unincorporated status under New Orleans government control again. In 1941 Eunice played host to the opening ceremonies for World War II's V-2 Rocket Launcher Development Center at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida which functioned as a proving ground for rocket launchers used in World War II against enemy fleets off Japan and Okinawa Island . The center also produced propeller aircraft used by military pilots during bombing raids over Japan during that war including Operation1-G (the atomic bombing campaign). The facility closed in 1945 but continued operation as a research center until it closed completely on October 15th, 1951 due to budget cuts following the Korean War . On July 12th 1954 Mrs Mae Covington donated land adjacent to her home known then as property line number 9 near US Highway 190 east of Eunice for use as a public parkland with playgrounds and tennis courts among other amenities .. After years of discussion between Mayor Beauregard Johnson and Superintendent Rae Parks Commissioners voted unanimously on August 5th 1956 to rename Parkland Park after Mrs Mae Covington .. On September 24th 1958 Msgr John Atencio dedicated Stations K through Z Garden which included an amphitheater designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.. This event marked beginningof Cultural Affairs Department activities at Parkland Park originally managed by Mrs Mae Covington herself financed through private donations with proceeds going towards cultural development funds earmarked for various parish programs
