Gun parts history in Eunice, Louisiana goes back to 1853. The first firearms were built here by Captain John Sledden of the Louisiana militia. In 1874, the U.S. Congress passed a bill providing for the regulation of firearms and making it an offense to sell or use any weapon that could be used with intent to endanger life or property. This law was known as "the National Firearms Act." The first store in Eunice was called The Gunsmith and Pistol Emporium and opened in 1875. It was located on Court Street east of I-10 near LSU University. At that time, handguns were not yet common enough to require a separate license to purchase them. In 1902, the town's first post office was established at 4200 South Vernon Avenue and served local residents until 1957 when it closed due to lack of customers. The last gun shop in Eunice operated from 1941-1957; however, its contents were auctioned off and most of its equipment is still extant today at Museum No 1 on University Drive near downtown Eunice. Eunice has had a population over 10,000 residents since 1861 when it became a plantation town developed primarily for sugar cane production on the banks of Lafitte River west of New Orleans

The first rifle to be shot at a target in the area was a shotgun by James Armstrong on October 9, 1836. In 1865, the town of Eunice had its own military unit, the 2nd Regiment Louisiana Volunteer Infantry. It fought in the American Civil War from 1861-1865. Eunice's post office was established on November 15, 1855. The first mail carrier was J.C. Underwood with his horse and wagon. After two years of service he retired and sold his business to A W Hennessey who operated it for thirty years until it closed down in 1907. On July 12, 1886, Mayor Abram Randolph signed a ordinance establishing public schools within the town limits which would become known as Central School District #2 (later renamed Eunice High School). On September 3rd of that yearSchool Superintendent Isaac Nitschke set up shop at 7 North Main Street with four classrooms and twenty-four students for grades PreK-8th grade inclusive under one roof! Classes began on October 1st with nine students! In 1893 an addition to the school was made available for boys when First Baptist Church became coeducational! In 1924 new additions were added to Central SchoolDistrict #2 including a gymnasium/hall/auditorium and a library/ science wing which are still extant today! Mrs .Linda Neal took over as Superintendent on January 1st 1985 after her predecessor’s death! Today Central School District #2 has an enrollment of 675 pupils through Eighth Grade!!
Eunice, Louisiana is a small town in northwestern Louisiana. The population was 4,918 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Orleans Parish district. The center of Eunice is on Interstates 10 and 13. The land that makes up today's Eunice was first settled by French colonists in 1699. In 1803, the U.S. acquired much of what are now southeastern Louisiana from France as part of the Treaty of Paris following Napoleon's invasion of America. As a result, many people who lived in what is now Eunice originated from this area; including General Lafayette and his family who were transferred to Stonington, Connecticut after their victory at Yorktown in 1781. In 1836, when New Orleans was founded as a city by United States President Andrew Jackson, parts of northeastern Orleans Parish were annexed into New Orleans and became known as "Eunice." The community continued to be called "Eunice" until it changed its name to Thibodaux (or Thibodaux) in 1883 when it became an independent parish within Orleans Parish. According to the 2010 US Census estimates, there are 4,918 residents living in Eunice; 1% more than the 2000 figure but 3% less than the 2007 estimate due to increased commuting patterns within neighboring towns and cities over that period. The racial makeup of Eunice according to this report is 73% black or African American, 22% white (non-Hispanic), 2% Asian or Pacific Islander and 0% other race/ethnicity

Eunice is a small town located in the parish of St. Bernard in the east-central Louisiana region. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge metropolitan area and its sister city, Lafayette. The town site was first settled by French colonists in 1755 as "Saint-Bénigne." By 1803, it had been renamed Eunice after an Englishwoman who had married a Frenchman, Étienne de Montigny. The post office was established in 1847, and named for Queen Victoria's daughter by her husband Prince Albert. The local cotton plantation began operations around 1840; it would continue operating until 1959 when it became part of United States Agricultural Corporation (USAC). In 1862, General Robert E Lee called on Governor John Moultrie to move Confederate forces from Ia Dragoons camp near present day Lafayette to within easy striking distance of New Orleans so that they could be destroyed before the Battle of Gettysburg. After leading Confederate troops into battle on July 3rd at Monterrey Hill outside Charlottesville, Virginia—the first major engagement of the American Civil War—Lee withdrew his army to safety in Jackson County west of Monroe. At Eunice's request for Patriotism Day observances throughout the community on July 4th instead of national holiday observances such as National monument day or Independence Day, Governor Moultrie honored her request with special ceremonies that included speeches by President Lincoln and members of Congress including Representative John Pemberton (D-LA) and Senator James Kenedy (D-TX). When USAC merged with other agricultural companies in 1959, Eunice lost its status as a separate village but continued to have its own government until 1978 when it became one unit with nearby Lafayette under a single mayoralty system administered by a municipal board made up exclusively of citizens elected directly from their respective villages rather than through partisan politics
