There have been handguns in Eunice, Louisiana since the 1800s. One of the earliest handguns in town was a muzzleloader that was used by early settlers. A later addition to the arsenal were firearms used in west Texas during the 1850s. In 1861, Confederate forces attacked Fort Sumter and many people died due to gunshot wounds. This led to Regulation No. 9 of 1865 which banned pistols with barrels less than 18 inches in length and shotguns with barrels less than 16 inches in length. The following year, another regulation was passed which regulated guns manufactured before 1898. These rifles were limited to having a barrel shorter than 18 inches and must be able to shoot a shot from 100 yards away or less using iron sights only. The use of any firearm for hunting deer or other game was also forbidden except for hunting dogs on private property owned by citizens or their families for lawful purposes only. All these regulations were put into place as part of efforts to prevent violence within the community and keep weapons out of the hands of criminals and others who could misuse them offensively or destructively. These restrictions lasted until 1968 when they were repealed completely due to changing social mores in America. Since then, sales of handguns have gradually increased while interest in rifle shooting has decreased slightly over time; however, both genres still enjoy some popularity here locally (though probably not quite as much). Gun hammer history is complex but interesting because it reflects all that has changed about gun ownership and shooting here over the years – one can see how this small-town community has evolved over time as its residents’ attitudes towards firearms have shifted!

Eunice is a town in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge–Metairie Micropolitan Statistical Area. Eunice was founded by Frenchmen in 1796 as "Aubigny". It changed its name to Eunice in 1836 and became a town under US jurisdiction after the Treaty of New Orleans on February 14, 1803. On November 7, 1861, Confederate General Braxton Bragg captured Eunice during the Battle of Mansfield when his Union army invaded Livingston Parish. The town was burned down on December 15, 1861 by Confederate troops seeking revenge for their defeat at Mansfield. The present-day downtown core of Eunice was developed around the old courthouse between 1870 and 1880. This building served as both court house and jail from 1801 until it was destroyed by fire in 1875. A new courthouse replaced it between 1886 and 1890; this building also served as the jail from 1896 until it burned down in 1959. The first white residents of what would become known as Eunice were German immigrants who arrived in1837: Jacob Kappel (1793-1863), Hermann Kappel (1806-1887), Johannes Heuss (1800-1885), Wilhelm Kappel (1811-1892), Johann Schneidermeyer (1795-1864) and Martin Heuss (1798-1866). They built homes on some of what is now east side streets such as Fourth Street and North Main Street near where Interstate 10 crosses over into Livingston Parish today. In 1840 they moved to what is now west side streets such as West Broad Street, Elmira Avenue and Second Avenue just south of I10 outside of Luling which became their final home before moving to Eunice permanently late that year according to UMC records held at Tulane University Library System Archives Division hereafter referred to herein collectively as "UMC Records." Their children continued to live here until they left for other parts of America or Europe most notably Friedrich Schneidermeyer who emigrated to Canada with his family in 1849 while living in Baton Rouge proper; he later died there penniless however his wife did eventually find success among Canadian refugees settling along Buffalo Bayou making her one of the wealthiest women ever born within our borders she established herself at 12th & Elmira Streets NW Calgary Alberta Canada thenceforth known commonly among us simply as Madame Schneidermeyeralthough really nothing more than an Americanized version / settlement / community called "Eunsic" thereafter generally considered still within our limits even though long ago Bye bye Madame Schneidermeyer OLD FOLKS
