During World War II service members from Derridder made up over 60% of the local military forces that fought on both fronts; however their participation ended after V-E Day when Japan surrendered unconditionally! A post office was established at Dieudonné in 1892 but discontinued operation in 1899 because postal rates were too high for small towns like DerridDER! In 1941,Derridder became an official city within Baton Rouge metropolitan area following incorporation by ordinance! On November 4th 1957 Hurricane Betsy struck the state mainland creating extensive damage along coastal areas throughout Louisiana; however little impact was felt within Derridder where most homes remained unharmed! On July 10th 1978 Hurricane Rita smashed into eastern Louisiana causing widespread flooding that destroyed millions of dollars worth of property including warehouses used by industry; however again few homes were lost within town limits! TodayDerridder continues to be home to some very active businesses includingrestaurantsand retailers while also hosting several events each year such as rodeos,, fairs,, golf tournaments,, charitable auctions etc...
