The Deridder Rifle Association was founded in 1926. The group exists today to promote and protect the rights of gun owners in the town of Deridder, Louisiana. At that time,Deridder had a population of only around 100 people, but since then it has grown to over 10,000 residents. The club provides education on firearms and hunting topics as well as monthly rifle matches and other shooting events. In addition to its own firearms range and store, the DRA also operates a public lending library which stocks books about firearms and related hobbies.

Deridder is a small town in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 710 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white person to live in Deridder was Capt. George Fenton, who settled there in 1811. A post office called Deridder was established in 1824, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1908. In 1892, Mr. Clements acquired what is now known as der Ives farmstead and built a house on it which still stands today. He had also purchased some land from the Fenton family for development purposes – this land would later become known as Old Town Deridder. In 1902, he donated an acre (approximately ) of his property to the parish for use as a public school ground and playground; that same year also saw the opening of der Ives Elementary School with sixty-five students grades K-5th grade. In 1904, der Ives Intermediate School opened with thirty-six students grades 6th through 8th grade; it would eventually grow to provide education for over one hundred students grades 9 through 12th grade before being closed by Hurricane Katrina in 2006.* By 1910, der Ives had grown so large that two more schools were needed: One at Baptist Church and one at Main Street Presbyterian Church† – both schools would open their doors with eighty-four students grades K-12th grade each on October 1st of that year†(*). These three schools would be joined together soon after by der Plessy JuniorHigh School‡(*). By 1922*, all but two of the original buildings from when die High Schools first opened have been demolished or replaced by new structures – including current Mrs. Smith Middle School building which opened its doors on September 3rd of that year†(!).(*) *It should be noted that due to Hurricane Katrina's landfall on April 29th & 30th of 2006 respectively *all Of Die High Schools Buildings Have Been Demolished And Replaced By New Structures Which Include Mrs Smith Middle School Building Which Opened Its Doors On September 3rd Of That Year‡

Deridder, Louisiana is a small town in the eastern part of the state of Louisiana. It was founded in 1800 by French colonists who came from what is now Maine. The population was 714 at the 2010 census. The town was named for Sir John Deridder, an Englishman who had helped them purchase land in present-day Louisiana from the French. The first store in Deridder opened its doors on July 1, 1800. In 1829, the town acquired its current name when it became a part of Jefferson Parish and then Orleans Parish. Deridder experienced some significant growth during World War II as many citizens joined the military to serve in various roles throughout the war including artillery, armor, submarine crews and aircrews. Afterward, much of that growth slowed as many people returned to their everyday lives after wartime service ended. In recent years, Deridder has seen a resurgence in activity with several new businesses being established and more people moving into the community. This growing trend has led to another increase in population over time which will likely continue until future censuses show otherwise.
