The Bossier City Rifle Association was formed in 1903. The original clubhouse, located at 406 S Broadway, was moved to its current location at 421 Schartres Street in 1909. In 1917 the rifle association purchased a shotgun range on S Chartres Street from A & W Fells company. In 1923 the rifle association built a new shooting gallery and storage building adjacent to the old range on State Route 12B between Mansion Drive and Morningside Drive. In 1933 the rifle association moved their indoor ranges (the old ranges were used as an outdoor shooting range) to 411 N Greenville Avenue which is now known as “The Range”. In 1946 the rifle association purchased land at 1001 Patton Boulevard for future housing projects that would include an indoor shooting range, gymnasium and pool hall. In 1984 ownership of The Range passed from the rifle association to Louisiana Gun Control Coalition who continue to operate it today under contract with LGC until 2019
The Bossier City, Louisiana area is known for its natural resources and its history. The city was founded in 1836 by Frenchmen and named after Jean-Baptiste Bossier, the military governor of Louisiana at the time. The city has a population of over 50,000 people and is the capital of Tensas Parish. Bossier City was originally built on the banks of the Assumption River. In 1837, Captain John Ladd purchased land north of present-day Bossier City from the Kiamichi Tribe. Ladd laid out a town on a hill overlooking the Assumption River. He named it Bossier City in honor of Jean-Baptiste Bossier, who had helped lead France's victory over Mexico in 1812. In 1863, General James Longstreet decided to move his headquarters from Huntsville to New Orleans because he felt that Confederate forces were superior there. He ordered General Robert Ewell to move southward along I-10 to take control of Baton Rouge andthus end Reconstruction in Louisiana. Ewell refused to follow Longstreet's orders and hastened instead to organize an army under Union general Nathaniel Banks against Longstreet's army at Sharpsburg, Maryland. Due to this disobedience, Ewell was court-martialed and fled into exile before he could be hanged as a traitor. In 1872, president Ulysses S Grant issued an executive order ordering all American troops east of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania , must leave within 24 hours or face arrest for treason if they did not surrender their arms or cross state lines without permission from their commanders. This order caused great alarm throughout eastern Pennsylvania because it threatened civil war between pro-Unionists and pro-Confederate sympathizers if these troops failed to comply withaziemaal orders . After several days of skirmishes surrounding Pittsburgh , General Order No . 11 became effective on July 15th when Confederate General Lafayette McLaws surrendered his army at Camp Butler near Erie County line . General Order No . 11 read: "All men must immediately turn over their arms and disperse unless given authority by law enforcement officers acting pursuant thereto." Unknown soldiers still fought loyalist forces until August 5th when both armies came together under Union command under Major Generals Charles Gist (left) & John Gibbon (right) at Gettysburg National Battlefield

The city of Bossier City, Louisiana was founded by the Caddo Nation in 1836. The city became a state capital in 1885 and remains its current capital. Bossier City is located in southeastern Louisiana, approximately 25 miles (40 km) south of New Orleans. The community was established on the banks of the Mississippi River, about 12 miles (19 km) east of present-day Monroe. In 1836, the Caddo Nation attempted to colonize what is now Bossier City through treaties with Spain and France. However, Spanish forces destroyed most of the Caddoan settlement within two years and all but one member of the tribe died from infectious diseases contracted in overseas missions. French colonists also tried to settle in what is now Bossier City but were not successful because they lacked horses and other transportation resources necessary for farming. In 1885, during Reconstruction following Civil War Reconstruction, Governor John A. Kenedy moved the capital from Baton Rouge to Bossier City due to its strategic location as an important port on both sides of the river and its close proximity to New Orleans. As a result of this move,Bossiers citizens voted to rename themselves “Cadillacs” after their favorite automobile manufacturer Cadillac Motors Corporation which had donated land for expansion purposes along I-10 near present-day Monroe Boulevard and Jefferson Davis Parkway). During World War II, Captain Robert Lunsford USNR served as Commanding Officer of Camp Cook County No 1 in nearby Alexandria while assigned to provide military supplies and services at Barracks #2 at Fort Polk Army Base just northeast of town limits across I-10 from Alexandria Naval Air Station; he also furnished troops with food rations at his home basecamp adjacent Camp Cook County No 2 continuing until 1945 when he transferred command there permanently aboard USS Ponce (AO 176). He later achieved fame as Commanding Officer/Captain USN Patrol Squadron 5 based at NAS Jacksonville Beach Florida where he conducted patrols into Gulf waters off Cuba during Operation Neptune's Spear -the first major American operation against Fidel Castro's government since President Franklin D Roosevelt took office in 1933. After his retirement from active duty he converted his home into an historical museum which opened October 7th 1997 . He currently residesnear Naples Florida As early as 1762A Native American named Quapaw lived on a bluff overlooking where modern day Bossier City lays today west side street runs back past that bluff towards Frenchman creek then turn left on Indian Creek Road goes up hill past post office & depot old post road becomes State line Rd
In 1836, the area now known as Bossier City was part of the small town of Thibodaux. The town was located on the banks of the Mississippi River, about 20 miles west of New Orleans. In 1837, Thibodaux was incorporated as a city and became one of the largest in Louisiana. The city's first mayor was John A. Macdonald, who served from 1838 to 1840. The first president of Bossier City was James Bowie, who served from 1840 to1846. In 1861, Confederate General Robert E Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House in Virginia and Bossier City followed suit two days later. The city's population had decreased by half due to the war and its effects continued through Reconstruction until it returned to its pre-war size in 1898. The post-World War II era brought many changes to Bossier City; it became an oil refinery during World War II and then again saw growth when manufacturing picked up after the war ended. However, downtown experienced a resurgence in recent years as commercial development has resumed along Canal Street between Broad Street and Iberville Street
