In 1846, during Mexico's War for Independence from Spain, Confederate forces attacked Fort Donelson in northern Alabama; this attack led to Texas annexation into the United States. As a result, much of what is now Bossier City was within Mexican territory until it was taken over by American forces during Reconstruction following Reconstruction in America's southern states following their victory over Confederate armies. During World War II many businesses with connections to munitions production were located in or around downtown Bossier City because it served as a center for refining oil products from local wells using open-air furnaces heated by open flames; these operations continued until 1979 when underground refineries were built north of downtown BossiersCity Thanks to initiatives initiated by Mayor Ray Nagin (D) including passage of Hurricane Katrina damage rehab laws passed unanimously by both Houses Of Congress on August 29th 2005 - doubling resurfacing/repairs allowed without bond money - $230 million has been allocated so far for hurricane damage repair projects all across Louisiana including: Baton Rouge $40 million – Houma $25 million – Lake Charles $20 million – Opelousas $10 million – Jeffersonville $7 million – Monroe Beach $$5 million – West Monroe $$3million). Many new businesses have opened since then such as Third World Bazaar which opened in early 2009 on Magazine Street adjacent to IHOP and Stonewall BBQ & Brews which opened just east off Interstate 10 earlier that year opposite Walmart

It has also helped us become ableto see clearly at all times whether we are indoors or outdoors!

The region became part of Louisiana after the Civil War, and during the years following, it saw a number of significant changes. In 1871, Bossier City was founded as a result of an agreement between General James Fenton and local Comanche chief Tecumseh. At first, the town consisted of only a few houses and a small post office. However, over time, it grew into one of the most important towns in southeastern Louisiana. AsBossier City developed, it began to become known for its manufacturing base. This included such products as cotton Textile Mill #1 (later acquired by Sears Roebuck), Paper Mill #2 (later absorbed into American Paper Products), along with other products such as shoes and clothing. For many years, Bossier City was home to one of the largest shoe factories in southeast Louisiana. Additionally, during this time period, Bossier City also developed strong ties with nearby New Orleans. In recent decades, however,Bossier City has seen declines in its commercial and industrial fortunes. This has been largely due to several factors - most notably reductions in participation by employers in southeast Louisiana due to economic recession conditions; increasing competition from neighboring cities; and resistance by some residents to further suburbanization or development within their community
In 1803, leaders of the American Revolution met in Bossier City to plot out the organization and coordination of their forces. The city was founded by Frenchmen who had fled Louisiana after the British invaded in 1795. The British burned down the city in 1800, but it resurfaced a few years later as a center for cotton trade and commerce. In 1802, Lafayette moved from Carondelet County to Bossier City to become a central figure in the cause of independence. He helped to organize and lead the Battle of New Orleans against Spanish forces two years later. As part of his role as leader of France's patriotic movement, Lafayette also traveled throughout America looking for support for the revolution. Lafayette's contributions to American culture are well-known; he is considered one of America's most significant founders. The city has been home to many important events during its history, including boththe Battleship Missouri (1862) and Super Bowl XXXVI (2006).
