In 1892, Bossier City was the largest town in Louisiana. It was founded by French colonists who arrived in what is now Bossier Parish in 1799. The town current boundaries were established in 1898 when the parish was divided into two parts, and the eastern half became Bossier City. The first gunnery school in Louisiana was established at Fort Donelson near Minden on October 26, 1814 by Major James Wilkinson and Colonel David Dutton of British troops under General Andrew Jackson. The school operated for a year before being discontinued due to lack of students. In 1815, Captain George Washington Smith founded an armory there and began providing firearms to local farmers. In 1825, Captain John Southerland organized a militia regiment called the 2nd Regiment of Infantry which included riflemen from Bossier City and other surrounding towns. On November 16th, 1830 Lieutenant Colonel William Reynolds organized a battalion of cavalry called “The Texas Rangers” with headquarters at Fort Gibson (now Springfield) on the Red River near present day Mayer Road and Highway 1 south of Bossier City. These units fought against Spanish forces duringthe Mexican-American War (1846-48). From 1827 until 1850, rifles were only available to citizen soldiers; as a result, manyBossiereCity citizens acquired their first Firearms licenses between 1827 and 1830 . In 1861 Ordinance No. 133 passed by the Louisiana Legislature authorized concealed handgun permitholders to carry pistols openly within limits prescribed by law without having their handguns checked for fireability by members of the public or any peace officer empowered thereto according to regulation made therein . This regulation provided that no person shall be required to display his pistol while carrying it about his person except upon such occasions as may be prescribed by law . Citizen soldiers were exempted from this provision but all others had to have their pistols checked for fireability before they could exercise their right thereof . Fifty years later on November 15th 1984 Mayor Floyd Bourgeois proposed citywide prohibition of handguns as part of an effort aimed at curbing crime

The amendment states that “a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, shall not be infringed.” This amendment was written in 1791 and until recently, it had been unenforceable. However, recent court decisions have made it an enforceable part of our Constitution. firearms are now allowed in all fifty states as well as Washington D.C., where they are also licensed and registered with the government. There are many types of firearms available on the market today including handguns (which include rifles and shotguns), shotguns, pistols, rifles and machineguns. A handgun is simply a weapon that has one or more barrels that shoot ammunition out of a magazine. There are different types of handguns such as revolvers (which handle like Colts), semi-automatic pistols ( which features someoperated features) and full-automatic pistols (which fires all rounds at once). Bossier City, Louisiana is a city in Jefferson County, Louisiana. The population was 711 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Jefferson County and the twelfth-most populous city in Louisiana. It is also the largest city without a university withinJefferson Parish. The history of Bossier City began with Frenchman Jean Baptiste Le Moyne who founded what would become Bossier City on May 10, 1803 as a French settlement named after him, L’Auberge des Pères de France (the Hôtel des Pères de France). The first post office was established in 1805 and the first school was opened in 1806. In 1830, General Andrew Jackson and his army burned down part of L’Auberge des Pères de France so that L’Auberge could not be replaced by another French settler. A new francophone settlement called Vieux Plantation was established on land acquired from John Boulware near present day Waterloo Road and Prairie Avenue east of downtown Bossier City. This town prospered until it too was destroyed by fire in 1837 which destroyed much of what remained of Vieux Plantation including most of its churches and homes. The rest of Vieux Plantation was rebuilt but this time as an all-American village known as New Orleans with many English speakers arriving to work at various plantations throughout the area during the 1840s following purchases by General James Kenedy. In 1850, incorporate as a municipality under name La Salle with George Washington Carver becoming its first mayor; this name change came about because La Salle had been annexed into New Orleans two years earlier than other municipalities in Jefferson Parish which were then structured as Districts (i.e., parish sections). By 1860, when Hurricane Katrina struck� southern Lafourche Parish killing more than 1/3 of its residents� La Salle had recovered to its pre-Katrina level with 586 residents; however� by 2006� it had decreased to just 143 residents due to redevelopment projects around Lafayette Park (now University Place) and some loss due to displacement from neighborhoods affected by Katrina such as Chalmette et Ecarie where levees failed upon landfall resulting in widespread flooding along river banks unprecedented since 1800 In 1965, following passage US Senate Bill No 860 authored by Senator Huey Long giving carte blanche for local governments to annex unincorporated areas within their borders if they felt their presence would improve public services or contribute To The community spirit necessary for good governance � La Salle annexed part of Red River Parish located east of downtown Bossier City reducing its population from 2,801 inhabitants to just 174 residences over 12 years before finally being removed from incorporation altogether effective December 31st 2000 effective only for Tax purposes Although now considered an unincorporated area subject onlyto tax jurisdiction; it still has active civic interests including hosting annual parades honoring United States Presidents on October 15th annually followed by a fireworks display across Paul Revere Parkway past government buildings prior to landing at Lake Pontchartrain) It should be noted that while annexation practices between municipalities have changed over time there are general trends seen among all types of municipal incorporations across America: municipalities absorb smaller towns more often than larger ones do while those farther away tend towards having less pene

In 1803, the area that is now Bossier City was named after General James K. Polk, who had been president at the time. The city was originally part of what is now Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. It was ceded to Bossier Parish in 1836 by Spain after Napoleon's invasion of France. The first white people to come to Bossier City were French exploration and colonizationists led by Jean Lafitte in the early 1800s. They built a small community on an island in the river called Saint John. In 1824, a group of Englishmen landed on the island and founded a town there under the name of St. Michael which later became Lafayette. In 1840, Spanish authorities rename Bossier City to La Salle after General Antonio López de Santa Anna y la Cruz for his assistance against Mexican forces besieging New Orleans during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). After Mexico won its war against Texas and US possessions east of Bexar County were added to America (including Texas), La Salle became an important center for business and government in northern Mexico

The first Europeans to sight Bossier City were the French in 1699. The area that is now Bossier City was part of the Spanish Louisiana colony, and it was only after France invaded and gained control of the colony in 1803 that a town called Bessiersville was established. It wasn’t until 1818 when the name Bossier City was given to the town by General James K. Polk as a way of distinguishing it from neighboring Jefferson Parish. The post office for Bossier City was founded in 1824, and it continued to be in operation until 1963. During this time, there were also several businesses established in downtown Bossier City including a mill, tannery, grocery store, bank and flourmill. By 1907, there were over 2,000 residents living in downtown Bossier City. In 1915, Mayor George Fenton formed a city council which included five members elected at-large instead of staggered terms like what is currently practiced. This led to increased development within the city as businesses began opening up closer to each other while also making sure that people could get along better because they had more power together than individually.
