Bossier City is a city located in the parish of Bossier City, Louisiana, United States. The population was 27,803 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Bossier City" comes from a white man who named it for his plantation on the banks of the Mississippi River. The first Bossiers were French colonists who arrived in 1718 and founded a small trading post along what is now Bankston Road. In 1803, General Andrew Jackson and his army invaded Mississippi and burned down many of the French posts before reaching Bossier City. When Jackson took office as president in 1828, he decided to rename all of Louisiana after himself – "Jackson County", "Oklahoma County", etcetera. In 1837, General Nathaniel Banks captured and defeated Texas forces near Mobile Bayou. As a result, Mobile became an important center for cotton trade with Africa and Europe. This region was also rich in mineral resources such as coal and oil which led to rapid growth in businesses such as shipping companies and iron mines throughout this period. By 1840, Bossier City had become an important center for cotton production due to its location on navigable rivers which made it accessible to buyers around the world. During World War II, much infrastructure was built within Bossier City to support military activity including airfields and supply points across Canada and Mexico; these facilities remain today as part of municipal government services used by residents of BossierCity proper as well as neighboring municipalities (such as Monroe Parish). In February 1960, Mayor Johnnie Dixon announced that he would run for mayoralty against incumbent Aubrey Wade Jones Sr.. Dixon won handily with over 50% of the vote; however concurrent development within downtowns adjacent to then-Municipal Park resulted in high levels of pollution plumes emanating from several business districts surrounding Municipal Park where trash was accumulated at rates exceeding 100 pounds/day; this situation continued until 1966 when Mayor Dixon ordered enforcement operations by local police officers aimed at reducing littering by citizens within Municipal Park limits; these efforts eventually lead to redevelopment into modern day Business Districts 2 through 7 which have since been dubbed “Dixon’s Wall Street” due their proximity to LSU Tigers football games taking place inside Municipal Park

Bossier City is a small town located in the parish of Bossier, Louisiana. The population was 1,715 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Bossier City were the Caddo tribe. The first European to visit this area was Jacques Cartouche, who landed on the banks of the Mississippi River near modern-day Bossier City on October 9, 1718. He and his French crew were looking for a route to northern India when they stumbled upon this new land. The Caddo natives called these people "the Kanaks." A post office was established at Bossier City in 1811, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1872. In 1822, General Andrew Jackson became president of the United States and ordered all military forces out of Louisiana except for a detachment under General John Polk to protect Ulysses S Grant's campaign against Mexico. This order led to an arms race between France and America over control of southern Louisiana Territory. That year, Texas acquired some territory east of New Orleans from Mexico; as a result, there was increased competition for land within Louisiana between France and Texas. In 1840, James Kenedy founded one of the largest cotton plantations in South America at Jacinto de la Vega plantation outside modern-day Lafayette Parish near Shreveport (now Alexandria). As slavery declined throughout most of North America during this time period due to its moral bankruptcy (see: Ebenezer Howard), Jacinto de la Vega became one of only two large slave plantations remaining in Lafitte Parish after its sale by King Phillip II on July 6th, 1830 ending Spanish colonial rule over that part of Louisiana In 1860 Manassas Junction Railway Company line extended from New Orleans northward through Pleasure Island into Lafitte Parish past Jacinto de la Vega plantation where slaves worked until 1865 when their owner surrendered all his slaves Thereafter sugar cane production continued operations using black labor until 1921 when sugar beet production began also
