The history of ammunition in Bossier City, Louisiana, stretches back to the early 1800s. Ammunition manufacturers and traders were often responsible for supplying arms to the area during the Mexican-American War. Gunpowder was a scarce commodity in 1848, so ammunition dealers typically bought it in bulk from other dealers or made their own. In 1861, Confederate forces raided Union munitions stores and arsenals in Bossier City; many weapons and ammo were seized. The town was taken over by Confederate troops as they retreatned from Baton Rouge. Most of the local gunsmiths and Ammo merchants fled with their equipment, but one man, James Pugh, stayed behind to reload artillery pieces. He continued doing so until 1865 when he was captured and interned at Fort Monroe. After his release he returned to business as an Ammo merchant until his death in 1901. In 1904, Bossier City resident Harry Hinton founded the first commercial ammunition store west of the Mississippi River in America. His store soon became known for its quality Ammunition products and stockholders allowed him to build a larger building to accommodate his expanding business interests. By 1912 Hinton's store had become one of the largest such businesses in Louisiana. In that year he also introduced new types of Ammunition: black powder shotgun shot (BPS) cartridges which quickly gained popularity due to their accuracy andulnerability to damage by bayonets or gunfire from small arms fire; hand grenades (HG); smokeless powder rifles (SHP) chambered for .50 caliber rounds; as well as case loads for shotguns (CF). During World War I ammunition production increased significantly due to demand from both belligerents alike;Bossier City produced up to 100 million rounds of 81mm mortar shells alone! This overwhelming demand caused prices on essential bullets and shell cases To skyrocket; however along with this price increase came improved manufacturing techniques that made more accurate projectile designs available at affordable prices. As a result Of WWI ammunition Bossier City experienced rapid growth rates while its citizens enjoyed steady jobs throughout all phases Of The Great Depression/War II era - something which has not been seen since before those times! In 1948 Armoury Manufacturing Company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Corporation creating what is now Winchester firearms company headquartered in New York City among other subsidiaries across North America including American Armory Inc., Monarch Armaments Corp., Norma Arms Inc., Remington Arms Co., etc... The following year saw establishment of the National Firearms Association which led directlyto enactment of several important firearms laws ensuring regulation & safety regarding handguns within our borders including prohibition OF ALL massproduced automatic pistols regardless firearm type - another first!!!Essentially NRA founder Benjamin Tucker wanted nothing less than total control over handguns within our borders & started making noise about it right out there on Wall Street!!bossiers city post office 1917

It is the tenth-largest city in Louisiana and the third-largest city in the state ofLouisiana after New Orleans and Baton Rouge. It is part of the Lafayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Bossier City was first settled by Mennonites who arrived from Germany during the early 1800s. In 1836, General James K. Polk founded what would become Bossier City on land east of present day US 90/MS 362 (now known as I-10) near what is now downtown Lafayette. The town was named for General James Kountz Butler, who had been headquartered in Alexandria at Camp Butler until his appointment as commander of all Union troops west of Fort Buchanan on January 8, 1835. In 1840, a post office was established at Bossier City with A.J Ladd as its first Postmaster; it remained open until 1861 when it became part of Pineville Township under then Superintendent Abraham Lincoln Dodge's jurisdiction. On January 1, 1867, Pineville Township disbanded and its lands were combined with those of East Baton Rouge Parish to form Old Baton Rouge Parish under then Superintendent John Kirby Smith's jurisdiction; however this organization did not take effect until November 25, 1870 when new Orleans Parish consolidated into that parish pursuant to an act of Congress “to provide for organizing and consolidating allthe local government units within said parish” (1870 Act), which also provided for issuance of a single municipal seal representing both old and new parishes together). In 1886–87 Bessie Fenton moved her grocery store from Cameron to offer groceries to residents outside Stroudsburg on DeSoto Street; she continued to operate her store through 1915 before moving it again (this time back into business by herself) until her death in 1925. On December 25th 1896 Jens Olsenstedt opened his Odd Fellows' Storeroom/Diner at 701 Canal Street which became one of Bossier City's most important commercial establishments throughout its history; it continues functioning today as an museum open daily 9am-5pm (closed Mondays). Weber Brothers Liquor Store #1 opened on October 15th 1907 at 501 W Main Street becoming one of earliest liquor stores in Louisiana; it closed circa 1966 but reopened as an event venue & bar several times over the years including hosting LSU Tigers football games from 1978-1982 (& other NCAA events); currently operated by Live music promoter Doug Thorburn . Elmira–based Hardee's restaurant chain opened its first restaurant inside what is now Elmira High School on September 12th 1984 following a four year journey begun when parent company Joe Hardee purchased property adjacent to their original restaurant located off FM Road 274 southbound about three miles east northeastof present day Elmira . AsBossiersCity grew older more businesses relocated or moved out altogether due either to competition from newer rivals or changes brought about by Hurricane Katrina which struck late summer 2005 . Many prominent businesses closed during Katrina including Johnny Rockets restaurants along with much smaller mom&pop businesses just trying survive such as Giffords Pizza Place & Casey’s Sub Shop which both reopened months later(luckily without any damage!). With so many small businesses struggling duringKatrina many decided to move out either permanently or temporarily leaving behind large vacant lots across central downtown where development has resumed since then! When Hurricane Katrina hit late summer 2005 many small business owners decided they needed to leave because they didn't have anything left after being destroyed by Katrina like Giffords Pizza Place & Casey's Sub Shop did while larger Mom&pop businesses survived intact! This resulted in large vacant lots across central downtown becoming developable again!

The Bossier City area was first settled by the Mobile and Baton Rouge tribes in the late 18th century. The area became a part of the United States in 1785. The town of Bossier was founded in 1836 by freed slaves, who named it for George Washington, Jr. After the Civil War, Union troops burned down most of the town to prevent it from being captured by Confederate forces. In 1865, Union General Ulysses S. Grant ordered General Custer to cross the Red River at Bossier City and attack Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s army near Liberty Bridge. Because most of Bossier City was destroyed during the bombardment, only a few structures remain today including the old courthouse and jail which are now used as apartments.
