The Bogalusa Camera and Photo Company was founded in 1916 by J.M. Cochran and his wife, Madeleine Goudreau Cochran. The Cochrans were among the first businesses in Bogalusa to offer photography services. They began selling cameras and developing film at their store on Third Street. In 1928, the Cochrans moved their business to Second Street, where they continued to sell cameras and develop film until 1956. In 1951, the Cochrans sold their business to Julius Lachance and his son-in-law John Kempf. The Lachances operated the business until it closed in 1988.
Bogalusa, Louisiana is a small town located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. The population of Bogalusa was 9,811 at the 2010 census. Bogalusa is the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte and he once said that "the people of Bogalusa are the most hospitable I have ever met." It's one of the few remaining towns in Jefferson Parish without an oil refinery. The area around Bogalusa was first settled by Cajuns and has been populated for over 100 years. The name Bogalusa comes from a word meaning "a place where there is much water," which led to its nickname "Watertown." In 1848, John Sikes built what is now known as Sikes' House on land now occupied by Third Street and First Avenue. In 1892, a road called US-180 was created connecting New Orleans with Baton Rouge via Bogalusa. This allowed for more commerce and development in the area and made it easier for people to get to their jobs in New Orleans. In 1906, Congress passed an act granting voting rights to African Americans in Jefferson Parish, which helped spur economic development in the town. In 1927, Hurricane Agnes hit nearby Biloxi and caused significant damage to buildings and infrastructure in central Louisiana; however, no loss or fatalities were reported in Bogalusa. After Agnes passed through, many businesses closed due to lack of customers or capital investment; but over time some reopened thanks to new technology or other innovations available during that time period. After Hurricane Katrina struck southern Louisiana on August 29th 2005 (initiated by Hurricane Rita), much damage occurred throughout the parish including extensive flooding within the town limits which destroyed most property including churches and homes dating back centuries; however total physical losses were only $2 million dollars with nearly all residents returning home before Christmas 2006 after being evacuated during Katrina's landfall along with almost all parishes within Mississippi River Delta region totaling 125 communities/parishes lost any type of structure whatsoever as well as business interruption reports for both manufacturing plants (petroleum refining) as well as service businesses such as restaurants/bars etc... A total amount of 1 million dollars USD has already been allocated towards reconstruction projects

The British Crown colony of Louisiana was founded in 1718 by General James Kenedy, who named it for Bogue Inlet on Mobile Bay. After years of struggling against Spanish and Indian forces, Kenedy's colony became a successful fur trading post and slave trade center. In 1803, President James K. Polk granted Louisiana to Napoleon Bonaparte after his victory over Spain at Alamo Heights. France ceded what is now southeastern Louisiana to America following World War I sans any indigenous population or landowner ownership which created an opening for American settlement.
