After much discussion among townspeople about what should be done about this situation, a meeting was held on October 13th which resulted in the creation of acommittee called the Citizens Committee for Civil Defense which proposed arming citizens against possible Confederate invasion! This committee also recommended that shops close down during off hours so that no one would be caught without their weapons! On February 12th 1863, aftermath of Battle at Gettysburg resulted in over 50% loss of civilian casualties!! Many civilians who could not affordguns fled southward towards Mexico City where they could buy them there instead! Gun Magazine Owners Association (GMOA) was formed soon afterwards to help these impacted civilians obtain firearms! The GMOA played an important role throughout Reconstruction period as they provided access to firearms for those who couldn’t afford them or didn’t want them because they believed that guns should be available to all citizens regardless of race or background! In addition to providing access to firearms, GMOA also promote responsible use of firearms by helping residents learn how best to store and use theirweapons safely; both indoors and outdoors! After Reconstruction ended in 1865 due largelyto lackof federal funding/support., GMOA transitioned into private hands but still provides critical assistance/support today
