Bastrop is a town located in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 5,914 at the 2010 census. Bastrop was founded in 1824 by Captain John C. Bastrop and his wife Sarah Yates. It became a city in 1903 and an incorporated village in 1907. The original name of the town was "New Iberia". The first post office in Bastrop was established on December 15, 1824, by Captains John C. Bastrop and James Fenton with the address of "Castle Garden." On November 3, 1830, New Iberia became the seat of government for Livingston Parish when it was organized from parts of Rapides Parish. The first settler to arrive in Bastrop County was Isaac Griggs on November 1, 1825. He came downriver from Baton Rouge with his family and drove overland to find a spot to establish a farmstead near present-day Bastropville. Of the thirty-six families who arrived during that year's survey operation commanded by Jethro Gibbs (1795–1868), twenty-eight were granted land east of what are now US Highway 90 and FM 2226 (then Old US 290) within present day bastrop county limits; twelve were Granted north of US Highway 190 just east of present day Carthage while four others received grants Rancho de las Brisas vecinos which included much modern downtown area today as well as what is known as West Campus Drive between Carthage Avenue/US Highway 190 & Shell Rd./FM 1958). Some people early moved into what is now downtown only to leave when roads were built that linked their acreage back up with those around them or when new homes were built on older lots across streets they had access to but little or no control over until after World War II when subdivisions began popping up all around them creating neighborhoods they could never have imagined living in if they’d only been able to live where they did before! In fact one man even had the idea for using some old slave pens he owned along Railroad Street near present day Nolan Road opposite school after seeing how white farmers there used black children as dust mop sweepers! Captain John C. Mastin also settled here about this time including his brother Isaac who started farming south side of river bridge next door to house where Captain Mastin lived & raised tobacco until 1840s when he went off plantation & bought more land near mouth River before moving further upriver. By this time most everyone hereabouts had left for good by 1840s except maybe three or four families remaining behind mostly women & children who farmed local fields picking cotton etc until 1865 when all slaves were freed except one field hand named George Washington Powers who stayed on Plantationtil 1876 when owner died leaving estate largely unmoved despite petitions from neighbors (& apportionment order given him equaling 640 acres out of total McHugh 612) so he moved away finally becoming naturalized American Citizen about 1880.) After sometime back home again living among friends since then—some since reunion 1980s—I decided finally to move here fulltime about 1990s—cleaned up place pretty good picked out lot facing bayou—started building new house last week.—Bastros has always been my favorite small town (outside Dallas!)

The first gun chokes were invented by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. He created a device called a "Conte's Pistol" that uses an Old World stock with a cylindricalkrink (a metal ball and tube) fitted into the barrel at one end and connected by a short piece of wire to another part of the stock near the magazine release. This caused air pressure on firing days when there was high humidity to be reduced, allowing more rounds per minute to be fired without having them detonate prematurely inside the weapon. The key difference between this type of choke and later designs was that Conte's choked pistol could only hold six rounds instead of twelve like later designs. In 1859, John Browning designed his very first rifle using an early form of breech block action which allowed him to cram more rounds into each round than ever before possible without any problems due to overpressure from cartridges being forced into the chamber past its lips due to neck differences between rifles made prior to 1885. With this innovation he became known as "thefatherofmodernfirearms." Browning also led development efforts for both shotguns and pistols while working on these guns at his home in Oxfordshire England during 1892-1894; he ultimately died aged 69 years old after developing chronic heart disease while living in America

Bastrop, Louisiana is a small town located in Rapides Parish, Louisiana. The population was 8,584 at the 2010 census. Bastrop is one of the oldest settlements in Louisiana and likely dates back to the pre-Columbian period. It was named for General James A. Bastrop, who served as a Confederate general during the American Civil War. The first permanent settler in Bastrop was Captain Isaac Lowrance, who arrived from Canada on July 4, 1810. Lowrance's family owned land around what is now Bastrop and sold it off over time to other settlers. By 1815, there were twelve families living in Bastrop. The first school in Bastrop opened on November 25th of that year by Reverend John Smith with three students. In 1821, Major Pierre Lamar purchased some of Lowrance's land which he donated to the town for a public school system. Lamar also built a courthouse and jail within the limits of present-day Bastrop. The first post office was established at this location on December 12th of 1824 by Captain John Barnes with seven residents as customers service deputies under his direction; however, this office closed two years later because no coins could be issued from an Indian trading post near Baton Rouge due to restrictions placed upon French traders at that time by Ulysses S Grant’s administration! In 1830–31 local resident Frances Cason built an early whitesmith shop and blacksmith shop adjacent to her home which continued operation until about 1865 when all blacksmithing operations were transferred to Baton Rouge because of anti-African American sentiment prevailing throughout much of America during this time period! On October 14th 1861 (the day after Jefferson Davis became President), Union troops surrounded and burned down Lower Green Lake Plantation belonging to Colonel Robert Ewing & others leading up to their engagement with Company K (5th Regiment Texas Cavalry) later known as "The Battle Of Mansfield" resulting in approximately 150 fatalities including 40% women & children! Also note: On that same day Confederate forces destroyed several plantations - most notably Lower Green Lake - contributing greatly towards slavecatcher Lt Col John Hunt's successful 1862 Raid Against New Orleans' largest cotton plantation complex! bastoplaveryhistory
