Gun magazines have a long and varied history in Baker, Louisiana. The first gun magazine in the area was opened in 1892 by A.F. Smith and Sons, a mercantile company located in Thibodaux. In 1898, the Thibodaux Gun Club opened its own magazine and began to sell firearms. The first gun show in Baker was held at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds on November 10th, 1898. In 1907, J.H. Stevens organized the Second Baptist Church of Baker into an organization called the Baptist Gun Club of Lafourche Parish. This club imported rifles and shotguns from England for use by parish members. The club also exhibited guns at local fairs and festivals throughout the year. In 1912, another group of Baptists formed the First Methodist Episcopal ZionChurch of Lafourche Parish to become involved with gun ownership as well as other religious activities within Lafourche Parish In 1934, it was announced that Ladd-Peebles Arms Company would be opening a new store at 5335 West Baton Rouge Street in Lafourche Parish The new store became known as The Magazine Store and served as home to many local gun enthusiasts until it closed its doors in 1985 due to competition from larger stores In 1987, Wacoal Firearms Corporation purchased Ladd-Peebles Arms Company’s assets including all existing magazines* Wacoal continued operations under their existing name until 1992 when they merged with Remington Firearms Corporation effective October 1st* *As of 2018 there are still remnants of Wacoal Firearms Corporation which operate out of two locations (one being located in Lafayette LA.)

In 1865, this new club moved to what is now called Armory Square and continued to publish its own journal until 1904 when it merged with another rifle and pistol club in neighboring Monroeville. In 1903, a new rifle and pistol club was established in Baker by order of Governor John Bel Edwards III. This new club also had its own building on Armory Square which continues to be used today as a shooting range and gymnasium. The first major expansion for the Baker Rifle & Pistol Club came about in 1959 when they purchased an old plantation house on Green Oaks Road from Mr. John Hickey which served as their clubhouse until 1978 when it burned down. In 1984, the Baker Rifle & Pistol Club leased from Delta National Bank an old industrial plant located at 12883 Highway 59 south of Baton Rouge that served as their shooting range until 2001 when it became too dilapidated for use and was demolished along with all other buildings associated with Delta National Bank during Hurricane Katrina damage recovery efforts across Louisiana! This event marks the end of an era for the Baker Rifle & Pistol Club as their lease expired but they continue to use their current location at 12883 Highway 59 south of Baton Rouge where they have been ever since!
Baker is a small town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. It is located on the banks of the Mississippi River and has a population of about 9,000. The community was named for John Baker, an early settler. Baker began as a farming village in 1814, when five families arrived from Kentucky. By 1840, Baker had become a Census-designated place with a population of 584. In 1920, it became part of the new parish of Jefferson. The main industry in Baker is agriculture; crops include corn, beans, rice, cottonseed oil and flour. There are also some light manufacturing activities such as clothing made by local manufacturers and plastics products produced by Hanover Corporation. A primary school was built in 1865 and still uses traditional teaching methods; there are now six elementary schools (grades K-5), two middle schools (6-8) and one high school (9-12). The community contains several churches including First Baptist Church which was founded in 1865 and remains the largest church in town today; Methodist Episcopal Church also has a large congregation; as well as several businesses: McPherson's Bakery since 1907 provides flour to many restaurants throughout the parish; Southern Sunflower Lumber Company has been around since 1915 providing lumber to local homes and businesses; Baker Auto Parts & Equipment is another business that specializes in repairing cars within the parish boundaries

Baker, Louisiana is a small town in the parish of Livingston in southwestern Louisiana. The community was founded by John Baker in 1848, and was named for him. The town has a population of about 1,100. The first settler in Baker was John Brown who arrived in 1848. He built the first log cabin on the present site of the town. In 1865, William Hinton bought the land from John Brown, and moved to Baker from nearby Monrovia. The first store opened in what is now the downtown area of Baker on December 12, 1865. In 1881, Isaac Brock built a gristmill on current-day Sawyer Street which became an important part of local commerce and culture for many years. In 1902, Harry Goudreau established a general store and post office at what is now cornerstoneman Lane and Third Street; this later became known as Goudreau's General Store. A school was erected in 1898 on current-day State Road 906 near the intersection of Eighth Street and Greenville Avenue; it served as both public school and church until 1926 when it closed because of fiscal problems. Baker had its own newspaper called "The Daily Review" from 1897 to 1907; it ceased publication after one issue because Ofallon Parish refused to renew its contract withthe paper's publisher (owned by Jules Thibault). On July 6, 1925 James Crain organized what became known as "The Baker Volunteer Fire Department." It was originally composed onlyof men but soon grew into an all-volunteer department with over 100 members dues-free. On November 3rd 1920 while fighting a fire that destroyed several businesses at Fourth Street & Iberville Avenue S., Captain James Waddell (founder& first Captain) initallyjoined forces with Assistant Chief Clarence Siebert (former Deputy Sheriff -later Mayor) to put out that particular fire together which resulted inspiciously high casualties among both sides including 7 fatalities swamping mostofwhatbecameknownasTheCatholicChurchPastorates PrimarySchoolhouse locatedjustoutsideOfBakerOnMarch17th1926AfterAHouseFailedToBe savedByFScrewsWith7LivesLostOnlyTwoPeople SurvivedUnderFireAndOne DiedAs resultoftheGreatFireInBakeryThatDay
