Alexandria, Louisiana is a city in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 59,812 as of the 2010 census. It is the second-largest city in the parish and the largest city in East Baton Rouge Parish. Alexandria is located on a bend in the Mississippi River and has been an important trade center since its founding by French colonists in 1763. The area that now constitutes Alexandria was part of what is now St. Tammany Parish before it was acquired by East Baton Rouge Parish on July 1, 1807. The first permanent European settlement in what would become Alexandria was made by Captain David Dixon and his party of Englishmen at Saint James Town on May 25, 1763. Dixon named this site Alexandre Conte de laPointe because he had first discovered oil wells there two years earlier while exploring for natural gas near present-day New Orleans. At that time, oil exploration was not yet common and only minor impacts were felt from early production around these areas; however, Dixon's discovery changed all that when pipe lines began to be developed across Florissant Creek deep into present-day eastern Orleans Parish. In 1772 Pierre Bourgier founded a small town called Ville Jean Baptiste just south of here on land he had purchased from La Capitale Française (the original Parisian Quarter). This tiny village quickly became one of the most important commercial centers within colonial America due to its location at one of several crossroads where transportation links opened up between Philadelphia (via boat downriver) and New York City (via land route through Harrisonburg), Charleston (via ship), Mobile Bay (on Pensacola Island), British West Florida (near modern day Panama City), and Spanish Florida beyond Tampa Bay - all major trading points during this period! In 1807, following Purchase No.: 524 from King Louis VII of France for $640,-000 plus 8% interest payable annually until paid off; Beale County organized under French rule On July 1st 1807 with boundary changes resultant from Hurricane Katrina - Alexandria became part of East Baton Rouge Parish In 1861 Confederate General Robert E Lee's army fought its way northward through Union territory towards Richmond after briefly routing Union forces at Chancellorsville; also known as "The Battle of Gettysburg" After annexation by LSU in 1972 as part of effort to create an integrated University system throughout Louisiana; many businesses moved outta downtown including 4 banks which closed their doors simultaneously Today much like then Alexandria experienced high levels poverty with limited access to education & healthcare making it difficult even for middle class families

Most modern retention handcuff designs use metal clasps rather than velcro straps because it provides greater durability over time (Harding et al.). Retention handcuffs have become one of the most common methods used by law enforcement throughout North America due to their convenience and ability to securely secure weapons while being worn discreetly

Alexandria, Louisiana is a small town in Jefferson Parish, La., about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of New Orleans. The population was 10,813 at the 2010 census. It is the parish seat of Alexandria and the smallest parish in Louisiana. The first settlement near present-day Alexandria was by French colonists who arrived in 1699. [1] In 1802, General Andrew Jackson set up a military post at what is now called Alexandria to protect American settlers on the east bank of the Mississippi River from Native Americans. After much fighting and skirmishing, Jackson's troops drove the Indians off their land and they began to build homes there. By 1815, many of these settlers had moved out because of political conditions in America: Napoleon Bonaparte had closed down most European trade with America while he reigned as emperor; cotton prices were high; and there was no comercial potential on either side of the river. [2] The town site was chosen for its strategic location: it lay between two major rivers, making it an ideal place to store food or munitions during wartime; and it had access to a stream that Provided irrigation for nearby plantations. In 1822–23, construction began on a courthouse and jail which were completed in 1825. The town became an important trading center for local farmers and merchants as well as visitors coming downriver from New Orleans. [3] When Andrew Jackson was elected president in 1800, he decided to move his seat of government from New Orleans to Washington City on the banks of the Missouri River so that he could be more accessible to Congress. He also ordered new construction around Alexandria including a new courthouse and jail which were built between 1800 and 1802 by contractor James Eadsworth Bailey supervised by Alexander Stephens Jr.. One result of this move was that Alexandria became one of only two U.S towns located directly within cannon shot (the other being Fayetteville)of both Washington D.C.–home then (to some) Of President George Washington –and Paris, France.–wherever military campaigns took place during his four years in office.(It should be noted here that since Fort Moultrie wasn't operational until after Jackson came into office), artillery fire couldn’t have reached Alexandria.)
