There has been an history of firearms in Abbeville, Louisiana for many years. The town was founded in 1804 by Pierre Dorion, a French-Canadian fur trader. The first guns were made from crude cannons that the Native Americans had available to them. In 1836, Abbeville became the capital of Claiborne Parish and its gunnery school was established. This school taught men how to shoot handguns and rifles. In 1871, the United States Post Office moved from New Orleans to Abbeville and began issuing mail with stamps indicating the presence of arms shops in each town. The post office refused to issue stamps with the word "gun" on them because it would have given away information about where people could buy arms. So, local citizens began to create their own stocks of arms by purchasing pre-made pistols and shotguns from local gunsmiths or buying new weapons online or at local sporting goods stores. By 1907, there were over 100 guns dealers in Abbeville alone! In 1934, Alabama passed a bill allowing people to possess automatic weapons without having a license from the state police department. This law caused many businesses in Birmingham to close their doors as customers fledAbbeville for fear they would be arrested if they possessed automatic weapons without a license. However, this did not stop people from bringing theirautomatic weapons intoAbbyville for personal use or commerce purposes; just like before, locals continued to purchase new firearms here.]]

The Battle of Abbeville took place on May 9, 1864, during the American Civil War. Confederate forces under General Robert E. Lee fought Union troops under General Ishmael C. Grant on a battlefield in Abbeville, Louisiana. The battle resulted in major Confederate losses and ended with a Union victory.
Abbeville, Louisiana is a town in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 6,362 at the 2000 census. It is part of the New Orleans metropolitan area. The site of present-day Abbeville was first inhabited by the Iberian people around 600 A.D. After European contact and their arrival in what is now Louisiana in 1606, the French founded a mission in 1704 at Abbeville for Japanese monks. In 1803, Spanish colonists arrived seeking to purchase land from the Indians and found that there were already villages with similar names near Baton Rouge; they abandoned this attempt and built Fort Tricentennial instead on nearby Pascagoula Bayou (now called Opelousas River) because of Legend has it that General Andrew Jackson would cross this body of water if he could find a white woman who could say she had given him her virginity as an inducement for his support against the Creek Nation’s efforts to invade Alabama during the American Revolution. Jackson’s crossing was not possible as he died before reaching Baton Rouge; however legend still persists to this day that someone must have beaten a path through Hurricane Katrina's devastation to hometown Abbeville just east of downtown New Orleans so please don't forget about us! It didn't take long for French Canadians living in Acadiana and parts of central Louisiana to become aware of what was happening in Texas due to events such as The Battle of San Jacinto which took place on November 2nd 1836 and Lt.-Colonel James Fenton's reports from December 15th 1836 reporting "the whole country roundabout [New Orleans] is deserted excepting a few men attached to our army." On January 1st 1837 Major General Lamar organized an expedition led by Col. Isaac Brock to assault San Antonio de Bexar (now Austin). Although successful at taking possession of San Antonio some casualties were incurred including Brock who drowned after being swept away while leading his unit into battle along with over 60 other soldiers only days later when Congress authorized money be provided for compensation purposes under The War Act Of July 4th 1846 Lieutenant Colonel John Hogg commanding British forces operating on Mexican soil at Chihuahua reported seeing “an immense black cloud floating over Mexico City containing thousands upon thousands human beings all magnitude proportionate...it appeared like nothing less than an express train carrying off[ing] these infernal beings across Our Borders” In light of this information Maj.-Gen David Baird ordered General George Crockett’s cavalry brigade under Colonel Nathaniel Banks which discovered San Fernando Rey de las Casas about 20 miles northwest of Brownsville on October 10th 1837 consisting mostly “mules laden with breadfruit trees or corn fruits…our horses got tired before we reached them so we stopped and let them rest; when we started again they were three miles distant from us having marched seventeen hours without stopping though exposed Toorsee hundred paces wide open unto general view; yet notwithstanding all this our Horses did not get tired but went fifty yards without any stop They are said sometimesally seven Miles distance from their feeder We halted one hour long within five Miles This Stop lasted two hours next day going another four miles according to CaptainsDistanceWe then proceeded six more Miles Without halttowing ten leagues towards Nueces River where we encamped For thirteen Hours Tomorrow We will march another four or five miles tomorrow expecting no interruption but should there be any interruption we will soon come back home" Bellaire also participated in this campaign but lost many men killed or wounded including one future Ulysses S Grant Atack Bowie who postulated "I believe Bowie caused several disorders among those responsible for carrying out Genl Crockett's orders." In retribution for Santa Anna's capture Houston issued Order No 1 dated March 3rd1838 ordering all commands "to drive every Spaniard inhabiting within their respective limits out immediately" By doing so considerable numbers began fleeing northward - continuing until February 12th1839 when Houston finally received word Santa Anna had been captured and executed outside Monterrey leaving most Texans under Texan occupation although much German blood still flowed among them throughout Reconstruction including Georges Vandalis who served as Mayor Pro Tem during Chartres' administration between 1865-68 NOTE: Many individuals associated with Abbottville during its early years have since passed away never able to fully understand why things turned out different than they wanted them too - especially considering hindsight allows proper appreciation *********************************************************************************************** While US President Lyndon Baines Johnson declared October 30th1968 "Anniversary Day"of America's official entrance into World War II by becoming Commander-in-Chief Pacific Fleet honoring Admiral Chester Nimitz--Abbottville residents gathered together once againFOR THE FIRST TIME EVER TO EXHIBIT THEIR INDUSTRIAL COLLECTION ON THAT DAYAn Giant Picture ExhibitwasheldatTheTownHallwhichcontainedover500vehicles includingsupercarsandtrucksalongwithseveralhundredchessboards

Abeille, Louisiana is a town in Assumption Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Baton Rouge metropolitan area. The first known inhabitants of the present-day town were Native Americans who lived on the banks of the Atchafalaya River before moving west to what is now Rapides Parish. French colonists founded the settlement in 1736 as a post on an outpost road from Baton Rouge to Natchitoches (now Monroe). The name Abeille was derived from a local chief's name, Aislinnacoua or "Atchafalaya Eagle." As early as 1825, white traders and travelers noted that there were several small settlements near by including Abeille and Macon. In 1848, when General Andrew Jackson became president of the United States and ordered his army to march against Mexico for its annexation into America, he decided to build a wagon road between Baton Rouge and New Orleans so that supplies could be brought overland during his campaign against Mexican forces. To finance this project, Jackson raised money through slavery sales in south Louisiana. When he took office in January 1849, he discovered that most of south Louisiana had been acquired by Spanish interests through purchase or sale at presale under Santa Anna's regime. In response to this news (and because many people felt they should have received what they had paid for), Jackson ordered General John Fenton to take control of much of south Louisiana with orders not to sell any more land until it was completely free from Spanish influence. Fenton proceeds burned all but 10 miles (16 km) of the old Santa Anna-era route linking Baton Rouge and New Orleans before finally achieving independence within 2 months after taking command in February 1849—a process that took almost two years because no one wanted to give up their plantations dues or rights to slavery which would have freed them (although some did). Abeille remained under Spanish rule until April 9th1859 when Texas declared itself an independent nation following US victory in the Mexican-American War; consequently both countries lost their legal right to own slaves within their borders. On May 12th1859 James Bowie shot three Mexicans while they were crossing the Sabine River north of Abbeville; this event started a wave of violence throughout western Texas culminating with Captain Anglo's Massacre on October 6th1861 which killed 254 Texans including 33 Texans from Abbeville including six Confederate soldiers who had deserted their unit en route back home from Memphis Tennessee where they had fought for cotton king Robert E Strickland
