By 1827, he had developed a six inch aperture scope which he marketed under the name of the Crain Rifle Carbine Scope. This scope was rod mounted with a swivel mount and included a bipod for stabilization while firing from a seated position (hence its name). The success of this product led him to start manufacturing other types of riflescopes including an 8x42mm objective Schmidt & Bender rifle scope and a 10x42mm objective ViewMaster rifle scope (now known as the Vortex Viper PST V1). By 1840, James Craine had installed his own manufacturing plant in St. Matthews which yielded high quality riflescopes at affordable prices! St. Matthews, Kentucky is a small town located in the Eastern Kentucky region of the United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "St. Matthews" comes from Saint Matthews, an Irish bishop who fought against Muslim invasions in India and also preached Christianity to Indian Muslims. The town was founded by Methodists in 1824 as a mission station near present day Louisville, Kentucky. In 1828, it became a separate parish with the same name and began receiving settlers from eastern Kentucky and other parts of Virginia and Tennessee. In 1868, when Stoningtonville parish merged into St. Matthews Parish, all of eastern Kentucky was added to the new parish including present day Jefferson County in west central Kentucky which had been part of Milton Parish since 1796. Today's western edge of Jefferson County forms much of what used to be Stoningtonville's east border - making it one of only two rural counties (the other being Boyle County) in Jefferson State Park alone! In 1905-06 due to dwindling enrollment at missions throughout most parts of the country following World War I (a result of modernization such as paved roads), Stoningtonville pastor John Hodge established himself as headmaster at nearby Trinity School where he remained until his death on October 6th 1906 aged 78 years old; before that he had been pastor at Zion Chapel since 1892). On November 12th 1906 local residents convened a meeting called by Hodge seeking authorization from their government officials to build homes on private land adjacent to Trinity School for themselves and their families – this effort led ultimately to the founding (in 1907) of what we now know as Holy Cross Catholic Church located just off US 30 near mile marker 126 on KY 21 about 5 miles northeastof downtown Lexington! Although originally designed primarily for jeeps and military personnel traveling through or passing through our little community on their way back home after duty in Iraq or Afghanistan during those exciting times there were several dozen homes built over time – mostly single family residences with children living within them while parents took care Of farming/working outside – many remain today unchanged more than 100 years later! As you can imagine life here wasn't always easy but it did provide opportunities for service both inside and outside our church… typical things like picking up trash from yards or filling up water pails for people living along US 30! We have usually seen somebody doing something good that day 😉 Heresy? Perhaps but no matter how things may look today we are still very blessed by His presence everyday here at Holy Cross Catholic Church!!!

In 1865, the first post office was established in St. Matthews; it remained in operation until 1963. The population of St. Matthews peaked at 24,000 in 1930; it has since decreased to around 10,000 people today.
