The town has a rich history dating back to 1811 when Captain Samuel Morrell erected a log cabin here on his property known as "The Cottage." In 1818, Colonel John Smeaton purchased land adjacent to Morrell's cabin and built a house known as "The Heath." In 1825, Colonel George Rogers bought additional land from Smeaton and built his home called "The Castle" which still stands today. In 1830, General David Fenton bought some more land from Rogers and constructed what became known as "Fenton's Fort". It was at this time that Somerset began its growth as an agricultural center with many farms becoming engaged in production of crops such as corn, beans, potatoes, rice, hay etc.. In 1840-41 General James Mooney moved his military forces from Bardstown to Springfield Armory in order to open a new armory for gun manufacturing purposes which he named after himself - Mooney Armory (now Commonwealth Armory). When Springfield Armory closed down in 1848 due to financial difficulties caused by America's involvement in World War II (the war turned into an economic depression), most of Mooney's tools were lost or damaged in the fire that destroyed Springfield Township's courthouse in 1945. However, some survived including the now extant foundations for Mooney Armament Company Building #2 which still stands vacant today within downtown Lexington (although it has been partially renovated several times since its construction). In 1951 Merle Haggard opened his first store here in what is now known as downstairs level 2B at 5th & Market Streets across from where he lived until his death in 1998. digits Restaurant followed suit less than two years later before closing its doors forever after serving up burgers and fries all day every day for almost fifty years! Today there are only traces remaining of both restaurants inside Boulevard Street mall - around 10 sq ft remnants remains out front while also damage done to building interior leading up towards basement levels where they used to be! The only remnant remaining closeby outside Boulevard Street mall is a large piece of concrete that once stood next door to digits Restaurant - formerly one end of their drive-in window!

Somerset, Kentucky is a small town located in the eastern part of the state of Kentucky. The population was 5,824 at the 2010 census. Somerset was founded on December 12, 1785 by Captain James Robertson and his family. It became a county in 1827 and was named for General Richard Seymour who fought against Native Americans in the Indian War. The first post office in Somerset opened on July 2, 1817. during the American Revolutionary War, General George Washington visited Somerset on July 3rd while campaigning throughout southeastern Kentucky and decided to rest that day at nearby Middletown. The Battle of Somerset took place on June 6th, 1792 between British forces under General Sir Henry Clinton and Patriot forces under Colonel John Brown outside of this small community which had been fortified with palisades since the war began two days earlier. The battle resulted in a decisive victory for Patriots and ended British control over southeastern Kentucky for six years thereafter. In 1817, when Henderson County became part of new Kentuckiana Territory after it was carved from what used to be Virginia Territory following the Louisiana Purchase, Somerset became an incorporated village under its own governance with a Board of Aldermen consisting of fifteen citizens meeting quarterly to manage local affairs such as elections and road construction etcetera In 1825, when Bourbon County was created from parts of Henderson and Todd Counties (including parts of Somerset), Somerset lost its status as an incorporated village but retained its right to vote within Bourbon County until it fell into disuse following federal government consolidation in 1922. On November 15th 1938 issue #564-A Loco Company No.(2) published by Prentice Hall Press provides evidence that school children living near Gadsden Street School were taught about World War II history by Mrs Nature King who managed the home front troop distribution center during this time period On May 8th 1959 issue #693-A published by Wagon Wheel Publishing company represents glass blowing techniques being demonstrated at Mr Harry Stroud’s shop located along East Main Street which is now known as “Stroud”’s Antique Glass Shop & Museum starting February 9th 1959 until March 1st 1959 This demonstration included demonstrations using glass blowguns filled with lead shot called “Smith & Wesson Blowshots” according to article Mr Harry Stroud also exhibited forging tools including swords/hammers/cpumps (similar devices used today to create stamps) Additionally he used his shop as a training ground for future glass blowers
