There are many triggers in Shively, Kentucky that have a long and storied history. Some of the most well-known triggers in the town include the Winchester Model 1892 lever action rifle trigger, which has been used on countless Wyatt Earp movies and TV shows, as well as the trigger on the Browning A5 shotgun. One of the earliest known triggers in Shively was a mechanism used on a Lever Action Rifle called the “Porter” Trigger. This trigger is significant because it is one of only two levers available for this type of firearm that still works perfectly today. The other lever is considered to be the “Browning” trigger which is used on more modern firearms like handguns and rifles. The Porter Trigger had an adjustable hammer that could be set from 2 1/2 pounds up to 3 1/2 pounds depending on how much pressure was applied when firing; this allowed for a wider variety of shots per minute (SHM) since it could fire multiple rounds at once with increased accuracy. It also had a sear that would hold onto rounds until released by hand or by pulling down on an earlier round release button located above the hammer pin. This mechanism was replaced by a plunger safety system around 1912 which made it easier to operate and allowed forマークレイアウト (marking off) shooting without having to reach into each chamber every time! Another early Shivelytrigger was located at 621 Main Street in what is now known as Old Town Shively. This house was built between 1841 and 1845 and served as both a grocery store and post office during its time within Shively. Inside of this building, you will find several old firearms including an over-the-door shotgun manufactured by Colt Firearms Company dating back to 1854 that still functions perfectly!

The town was founded by Methodists in 1836 and named for John Shively, a member of the first Methodist Church in Kentucky. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Cumberland River and its access to transportation and education. In 1886, Shively became an incorporated village with a municipal government. In 1925, Shively became a city with a mayor and city council. The current mayor is Darrell Story. Shively is home to two colleges: Bard College in Bardstown (which has been affiliated with Bard University since 1949) and Transylvania University in Lexington (which has been affiliated with Transylvania University since 1897). There are also several businesses in the town including two grocery stores, four restaurants, three hardware stores, one tire store, one real estate company, one music store, and one cooperative bank. The most significant event from within Shively occurred on July 4th of each year when Independence Day is celebrated throughout the community which includes fireworks displays from local businesses as well as civic engagement events such as “4-Mile Walk” which attracts many people from all around the area to walk together for an afternoon of fun and adventure across downtown Shivell

In 1907, the post office was renamed Shively after John's father-in-law, James Hickey. The town has been home to many significant people in its history including: John Flanders (1819–1900), an American politician who served as Mayor of Louisville from 1897 to 1899; Nancy Noyes (1860–1948), an educator and author who wrote several books about her life in Hardin County; Eugene Vail (1893–1973), an American businessman and owner of two TV stations in Lexington; Donald Trump (1976–2008), the 45th President of the United States; and Alice Paul (1915–2006).
Shively was founded in 1827 by Levi Shively and his wife Matilda. It was named after their father, Isaac Shively, who had settled in the area in 1798. In 1831, Shively and his brother-in-law, Christopher Hance, founded a store on the present day corner of First Street and Fourth Avenue.
