Shively is a small town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 5,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Louisville, KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. Shively is located on the right fork of the Big Blue River and lies just south of its confluence with the Ohio River. The east side of Shively is rural while the west side is highly urbanized with many businesses and residences located near I-65 and US-6. The community was platted in 1892 by George Waddell as part of a larger area which would become known as Maple Grove. In 1903, Shively was renamed for John Hive Shively, an early settler in Pike County who had been instrumental in developing the community into what it currently is. In 1916, when World War I began, Shively became one of several communities in Kentucky to participate in munitions production; this would continue until after World War II when production stopped altogether due to regulations from the federal government. As time passed and more people moved into Shively, various church organizations were formed: First Baptist (1893), Methodist (1905), Presbyterian (1915), Lutheran (1925), Pentecostal (1967) and Jehovah's Witnesses (1978). In addition to these religious organizations there were also professional groups such as dentists and veterinarians that arrived during this time period; all but Jehovah's Witnesses left soon afterward due to local opposition to their beliefs based on biblical teachings about sexuality. The current incarnation of Shively Municipal Court was organized in 1978 following a vote by residents regarding consolidation of municipal court services with those of neighboring townships; this action allowed for easier access to courtroom resources for both sides involved without havingto travel through downtown Shivey each time an issue arose. Today, much like any other small town across America, everyday life revolves around economic opportunities within commuting distance either through I-65 or US-6 which are always present thanks to shoddy job growth rates nationwide combined with low wages hereabouts; yet despite these challenges numerous businesses still maintain shopfronts throughout downtown thanks largely to their customers' continued support even during tough times nonetheless some things have changed quite a bit since then including advancements made locally in medical technology along with advances being made nationally such as same day surgery available courtesy of Obvious Genetics which now operates outfitted surgery centers throughout central Kentucky

Shively is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is situated on the banks of the Knob River and it is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The first Shively post office was established in 1826. The town was named after Samuel Shively, a man who served as justice of the peace and member of the state constitutional convention in 1820. In 1832, Shively had a sawmill and gristmill built. A store opened in 1836 and a school was established in 1840. The mill closed in 1865 but remained standing until it burned down in 1922. In 1924, Simeon Waddell founded what would become Walmart Supercenter here in Shively. Walmart has since grown to be one of America's largest retailers with over 2,000 stores across U.S., Canada and Mexico. In 2008, Walmart announced plans to open its second store here - dubbed "Walmart 2" - which would join anchor locations at Claymont Road Shopping Center (off US 65) and White Hall Crossing Shopping Center (near I-640). The project is expected to create approximately 100 new jobs within the community while also expanding access to local retail for residents outside of downtown Louisville Slugger Field area In October 2009, Shively voters passed an ordinance relax zoning regulations that had been hampering development around downtown from taking place because it interfered with views from Slugger Field; this led to increased development around downtown including restaurants/cafés/bars along Claymont Road as well as more housing being built near I-640 / US 65
