Shively is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 515 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bowling Green–Northern Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Shively were David and Rebecca Shively. They came from Vermont around 1793 and founded what is now Shively on the bank of the Raccoon River. In 1810, they sold their land to Nicholas Lewisohn for $1,000. Lewisohn built a cabin and named it after his wife's family name, which he also took from them: Rachelle (the original spelling). By 1812, the Lewisohns had four children: Johnathan (born 1811), Hannah (1813), Harriot (1815) and Nicholas (born 1817). The Lewisohns began to sell their holdings one by one until they had all but everything in Shivey except for a small piece of land near present-day Mount Lebanon Cemetery that was given to them by General James Wilkinson during the American Revolutionary War as compensation for British troops killed or captured there. In 1830, Johnathan Lewisohn married Rebecca Johnston who moved with him to Hardin County from her home in Mercer County, Kentucky. They had six children: Rhoda (born 1830), Vashti (born 1832), Nellie(née Stephenson; born December 3, 1834),John Fenton Lewisohn Jr.(October 13th 1840 - November 17th 1912) , Mary Jane(née McConnell; born October 15th 1842) and Addison BoydLewisohn(February 21st 1865 - ?) . All sixLewishofns lived until 1931 when Addison BoydLewishovn passed away at 82 years old.. From 1830 to 1901 inclusive Johnathan LEWISOHN Sr.'s only child by his first wife Rebecca JOHNSON was HARRIETTE BARBARA BARBARA LEWISOWN who married WILLIAM TOWNSEND on January 6th 1905 in Louisville KY US

Shively is a small town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,887 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Louisville, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area. Shively is one of two communities in Pike County that are both located on the Shenandoah River. The first settler in what is now Shively was James Hogg who arrived there in 1820. He built a cabin next to where his brother-in-law David Rice land later became known as Hogg's Run. In 1830, John Stephenson also settled in what is now Shively and built a cabin about three miles upstream from where Hogg did so two years earlier. Shively began to grow when Elijah White set up shop thereabouts in 1841; he had come overland from Bardstown with his family and been looking for land along the river since 1837. White started out by planting corn and then grew tobacco until 1840 when he shifted to wheat farming after getting some advice from an experienced farmer named John Loudon. By 1845, White had added several hundred acres of upland forest to his farmstead and renamed it Shively after himself – another nod to his Scottish heritage! In 1852, Samuel Vail opened a store at the junction of Ulysses Road and Old Sawmill Road (later renamed Crescent Avenue) which quickly became an important stop on the market road circuit between Louisville and Lexington because it carried goods eastward across the mountains into Kentucky while still being accessible by Stagecoach travelers heading westward through Pike County. This connection made Vail one of the most influential men in early Shivelians – not just because he ran a successful business but also because he helped organize various local civic organizations including those that developed into today's township board of directors as well as serving on numerous school boards throughout his life! When Union troops burned down Fords Ferry Bridge near present day Limestoneville during their 1862 invasion of Kentucky some residents gathered around Prentiss House on Ramsey Road for candlelight services before returning home – something they would do again less than two decades later during World War II when enemy fire destroyed much of their village! In 1865, Confederate General Robert Ewell decided to move forces southward towards Cumberland Gap rather than surrender at Appomattox Court House thereby sparing Lexington from capture or destruction – an event we all remember best today as April 15th! Upon learning this news, many resident churches placed flags outside their doors imploring God’s favor for Lexington should His cause triumph over that Of The Confederacy!
