Radcliff, Kentucky is a small town in the southern part of Kentucky that has been home to hunters and shooters for over 160 years. The area around Radcliff is rich in history, as it has been the site of many skirmishes, battles, and events that have helped shape the character of this community. One of the most famous incidents in Radcliff's history occurred on July 3rd, 1868 when Union General Ulysses S. Grant arrived in town to meet with local leaders about driving out Confederate forces from eastern Kentucky. The fight that ensued quickly became known as the Battle of Radcliff Hill. In 1868, he donated land to build a school and chapel in honor of his wife Martha Jane Healy (née McDowell). The first school opened in 1870 and it continues to serve today as Radcliff High School.
